Microsoft store doesn't recognize my device to install

I recently decided to try the Game Pass for their $1 dollar promotion but I can't install any of the games that are available....the install button is greyed out and when I select the "..." to install on my device it doesn't have any device listed although I clearly have my PC connected to my Microsoft account.

As below for pictures of issue.

There are many reasons why your device is not recognized on the Microsoft Store. Assuming you are using the same Microsoft account on the Store and the PC, some of the possible causes and resolutions are as below:

1. You bought an app/game that is not intended for PC.: For Example, Minecraft has 2 versions on the Microsoft Store. One is for PC, and other is for Xbox. Make sure you did not buy the Xbox one - if so, take a refund immediately and buy again. Xbox version requires game pass to run on PC.

2. Your device is not up to date: Many games or apps require supported release of Windows to run. Make sure your Windows version is up-to-date. A 2-year-old OS release may have compatibility issues with the app. Minimum OS requirements are listed on the app page. You can update your device from https://aka.ms/Windows10

  1. Your PC hardware does not meet the minimum app/game requirements: Certain apps/games, like Forza Horizon 4 require high-end graphics to run, especially a dedicated GPU. If your device does not have one, you may not be able to install the app. In that case, consider updating hardware.
  2. Make sure you are logged in to the Xbox console companion app: Xbox console companion app in Windows helps to track your achievements in the game. If you are not logged in there, your device may not be recognized. In that case, open it and log in using the same account. You can also try installing the app or game from the Microsoft Store in built the Xbox Console companion on the left menu.

  1. If you logged in using a Microsoft account recently/did a clean install: If you recently logged into your Windows 10 device recently, it takes a while to propagate the change to the devices list. In that case, wait for some hours, likely 12 and try again.
  2. The device limit is exceeded: Microsoft Store allows only 10 devices/account to install an app or game. If you think you are exceeding the limit, remove devices from https://account.microsoft.com/devices and try again.

Hi Folks…I tried many things to cure the problem with the Store…most did not work but did not hurt…I will try to list out what I did in the order I did it…sometime I will refer you to someone else’s post or to an article…bare with me…

First, I did these two things:

--Click your Start Button, then just type wsreset and hit Enter

When that completes, restart your PC and try to download that game again . . .

--Please check what version of Windows 10 you have installed. ..

Click your Start Button, type winver and hit Enter

--If your Window10 is out of date, do this…Click the link below, then click 'Update Now' on that page to immediately bring your PC right up to date

    https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/software-downlo...

I did this…it did not help the Store problem, but my Windows was way out of date and my computer runs better now…. recommended….

--Then I went to this article and performed the steps suggested there to delete some temporary files related to the Store….

    https://www.techgeekandmore.com/windows-app-store-fix-error-0x80070003/

Though this, by itself, did not cure the problem, it might have contributed to the success of the last step (below)….

--Go to the Microsoft Store and login...search for "Flight Sim"...that will bring up

a choice of the versions of the Sim...be sure that you have the device you wish to download the SIM to is recognized by the Store…click on the version of the Sim you purchased…...in my case, I saw a message that said I owned the Sim...what I did then (out of frustration) was to click on the "Purchase" or "Buy" box...my thinking was that I would purchase the Sim again and seek a refund from MS…to my great surprise a box opened and the download (I think) started...it was a little hard to tell…just a download timeline and not much else…at one point into the download, I think it stopped…but there was an arrow or something on the right side of the download line and I pushed it…seems like the download was on “pause” and it quickly continued and finished up…then the installation stared after a bit…the whole process is slow…finally a screen appeared and asked if I want to download another 95G’s of data…I have a powerful gaming computer so I said yes…that download was much more visible…after that the Sim installed, loaded, and away I went..

...DISCLAIMER: use this at your own risk...your mileage may vary…

Hi Tron...sorry, just saw your request and

have a busy morning....but in my post above

of 8/18, I describe the last step I took...all the

others had failed...try it and if it doesn't work

reply back and I'll go into further detail...

I do suggest checking to see if your W 10

is up to date and doing that first...I think there

is a link on the first page of this discussion for that...

I apparently can't go back from here and get it...

    Good luck...
