Missing search tab - File Explorer (Windows 10 - 1909)

Ok, so I don't see where you can actually type a specific date or enter a user date range??  Seriously, why is this so difficult? smh

Doesn't it seem counter intuitive to provide search options only after searching? Thank-you for the page you have provided. Still a bit cumbersome though. Not your fault.

I understand that auto searching as you typed was a resource hog. They did not need to do what they did. They could have just removed the auto search, provide the search options, then search once you click enter or arrow button. Duh.

Sorry, now I am going to gripe! What really irritates me, is you cannot select the when to install updates. I uninstalled the new 20H1, and MS had then re-installed it after restarting also removed my old build 1903 so I could not revert back to the old version. I am definitely getting a Linux OS once I can afford it.

I have installed the latest update of windows 10 (home and pro).

Windows 10 Pro - 1909 (v. 18363.476)

Now the "search" tab is no longer in the folders and I can't clear the search history either. Where is this tab?!

I've found if you press [return/enter] after your search word the search tools pop up and stay up until you close explorer.

You were much more helpful than Joseph Y.M. the Independent Advisor. Also, your ability to diagnose the actual problem presented, shows you pay attention to what was being posted and that you can view images from other users, lol.

This new "Search" function seems counter intuitive to provide "Search" options only AFTER one searches, but that's not on you. MS is really going down hill fast with W10. Its pretty fluff, but losing a lot of functionality from Windows 7. Have a great day! When I can afford it, I think I am switching to Linux.

Clever ... worked a treat!

I made a QUICK ACCESS TOOLBAR shortcut for "Clear search history"; here's how:

•"Search" tab doesn't show by default, so type anything in search & "Enter" to make the tab appear...

•"Recent Searches" button shows up under "Search" tab; left-click "Recent searches", then right-click "Clear search history" and choose "Add to Quick Access Toolbar"...

Now you can click the Clear Search History button (clock with red 'X') on any explorer window's Quick Access Toolbar. It doesn't actually show the history as cleared until you open a new explorer window. Like most of my "solutions" to Window's 10 issues, it's kind of a lame work-around, but still easier than waiting for Microsoft to come up with a real fix.
