Hello,

I have installed the latest update of windows 10 (home and pro).

Windows 10 Pro - 1909 (v. 18363.476)

Now the "search" tab is no longer in the folders and I can't clear the search history either. Where is this tab?!

Here is my experience that you can try

    Press the Win-key

In the open window, type the text:

“Control Panel”  (W/O quotations) and Enter

It opens the screen: “Control Panel\All Control Panel Items”

    Click: “Programs and Features”

You are supposed to see a screen with the title: “Uninstall or change a program”

    Click on “View installed updates”

It opens long list of updates.

Among them you should see: KB4517245

    Select it & uninstall it.

As they say, "take 2-aspirins and call me tomorrow".

Just kidding.. yet, be nice to know if this "work-around" does any good (beside myself)

    A

I have a fresh installation of Windows 10 build 19042 with same problem, search tab is missing.

The list of installed updates is very short and there is no update KB4517245 there to uninstall.

How can I solve this nuisance?

As said above, if only needed occasionally work around is type as little as a single character in the search box then hit enter and the Search Tab appears.

If looking or a more permanent solution then I guess follow the advice in the previous posts (uninstalling KB4517245).

    Hello,

I have installed the latest update of windows 10 (home and pro).

    Windows 10 Pro - 1909 (v. 18363.476)

Now the "search" tab is no longer in the folders and I can't clear the search history either. Where is this tab?!

I don't know if someone have resolved this issue or not. But i found a fix. As suggested by someone here that clicking on search bar in file explorer will bring back the search tab. But this doesn't work.

The search tab will only appear when you actually search for something in the search bar.

    Hope this helps.

Re: query about consequences for uninstalled KB4517245

You hit the nail on its head my friend!

Glad to inform that so far this "nail" doesn't hurt (uninstalling KB4517245)

At the time have asked the website tenforum (the source to this solution) the same question..

Couldn't understand the answer beside the  assurance

that it is OK to uninstall KB4517245 without bad consequences (It surely nullifies some functions..)

BTW have done this uninstall about 1/2Y ago. So far so good!

Only "side-effect" W10 had installed it back once or twice

Had uninstalled it again. Currently as i'm writing i have the "old" search-tool behavior
