I had the same problem, it did not show when clicking the box, but as soon as you search something it appears. You can cancel the search and it will remain. But it will vanish again if you change the folder or drive you have selected on the left column.

I have installed the latest update of windows 10 (home and pro).
Windows 10 Pro - 1909 (v. 18363.476)
Now the "search" tab is no longer in the folders and I can't clear the search history either. Where is this tab?!

2020-11-10T19:18:51+00:00 sometimes if you have a lot on the bar, you have to hit that small down arrow (which in my image is to the right of the search icon. It reveals more icons that are hidden if the number won't fit on the visible space alloted.

Look to the bar at the top left above "view" tab. You will see now a box that looks like a calendar with white boxes, 1 red box and 2 green boxes. This is the new icon for a date search.
