Wi-fi 6 AX201 adapted is experiencing driver or hardware related problems

I recently got my surface laptop 3 and today the wifi wasn't working. No networks were showing up so i ran the troubleshooter for the internet connection. This message showed up and i don't know how to fix it. "The Intel(R) Wi-Fi 6 AX201 160MHz adapter is experiencing driver - or hardware- related problems. Not fixed"

Please help me solve this problem because I need to use my laptop for school.

Hi Jessica,

You wouldn't necessarily need to hotspot it, but you would need an internet connection to download. You could download the file on another computer, and transfer it to the Surface by USB drive, for example.

The file that is being downloaded is a .msi installer file, so when you open it, it should bring up a setup wizard that walks you through the installation steps, and that would handle the installation of the drivers. Once that installer is complete, it will likely ask you to restart, and then the latest drivers would be installed.

Do you have the Intel or AMD version of the Surface Laptop 3?

To see which processor is in your device, check Settings > System > About.

Then, choose the link below that matches your processor.

On the download page that opens, select Download, and then choose the appropriate .msi file.

Select Next.

Next to the Save button, select the arrow, select Save As, and then choose your desktop as the save location.

You may wish to download and install the most recent drivers and firmware. The latest publication was today, January 30, 2020.

I have the same intel wi-fi 6 ax201 160MHz on my Surface Laptop 3 and it is very temperamental where connectivity is unreliable and would drop off despite having the latest driver. I just restart the PC and it seems to solve the problem each time.

Can you please tell me how to get into the BIOS and turn off/on. I might try as an option. Thanks.

Not on a Surface but I have the intel wi-fi 6 ax201 and I lose connectivity with daily use. I have to get into BIOS to turn off the WLAN and turn it back on for connectivity to come back. Indicates to me that it is not a hardware issue but rather something to do with the software and these related wifi cards. Even after going into BIOS everyday, I still lose connectivity randomly throughout the day, but I will be able to reconnect and can at least see all the other networks.

Hi，I have the same problem with my AX200 after updating to the newest driver by Intel but still experienced wifi dropout. I am on a win 10 1024 version and all are Updated automatically. Any other solutions? Thanks.
