Nickdig, seems like you are onto something. I had a dark theme set on Windows and switched it to a light theme. Now it seems to work a little more reliably, though it does have issues.
- I notice that when you click in it does not always place the cursor in the text box, but if you type it works.
- I also notice that the text moves down and right by one pixel when clicking in. This is a typical problem with styling text boxes in different states.
- Also, and more specifically, I was using "Custom Mode" in themes. My windows explorer was light, my taskbar is dark.
I took a look at the current insider's preview on my laptop which supposedly has this bug fixed. It still exhibits some quirky behaviors as I described, but does work more reliably than in the production build with dark mode. I have reported this as a bug to them.
Changing to light mode could be a viable workaround, though I wish Microsoft could patch this before the next big update in May.
