Local network problems with 1903

I have updated 3 of my 4 computers to 1903, now none of them can see each other in the explorer network section, but each of them can see the NAS drive on the network. I have checked the network sharing settings and they are all set as make this computer discoverable. Oddly the JRiver media centre servers show up in windows explorer, but the computers which they are on do not appear. Any suggestions?

I think I may have finally resolved the issue.  Took some time, but finally have positive results... Let's see if this works for y'all.

First:  Make sure you have the correct services running.  Right click the start menu, click run and type in "services.msc"  Make sure all of the following services are set on automatic (delay start).  Note, if your system is fast enough, you may not have to put it on delay start.  I only did that not to bog down the boot time.

     DHCP Client

     Function Discovery Provider Host

     Function Discovery Resource Publication

     SSDP Discovery

     UPnP Device Host

Second: Make sure you have the correct Windows components running.  Open settings, click on Apps, and then in the upper right hand corner, you will find Programs and Features.  Now, on the upper left hand side of this new window, you will see Turn Windows Features On or Off, click that.  Make sure SMB 1.0/CIFS File Sharing Support and SMB Direct are both fully checked (not the black box, but a check mark.)  I also have Work Folders Client checked, but not sure if that will affect it.

Third:  Make sure you have Enable Remote Desktop enabled... even if you do not plan on accessing your computer remotely.  Always remember, if you don't have a password on your account, you can't access the computer remotely anyway.  This is found under Settings, then System, and finally the last choice on the bottom left.

Fourth and Final Step:  Make sure you are on a private network.  Click on the network icon on the toolbar, and select Network and Internet Settings.  If under your connection device, it says public, click on either the Ethernet or WiFi link, and change it to Private.

Now, reboot the computer, and see if this works. 

I have been trying to find a solution to this since May.  Please let me know if this helps.  If not, I will keep trying.  Someone has to work the bugs out.

    That thread I posted is no different for V1903 as it is for V1803.

    Same Operating system. Same Issues. same solutions for fixing or getting around the issues.

    Plus it is for every other operating system for most of what is in the thread.

    It is nut busting hilarious that you just made those comments.

    And my Father was on here for a little over a year. 3 or 4 accounts. He deleted one himself. And has not been back for almost a year. He had issues with a couple people that I witnessed as being beginner users giving advise that was horrible for their victims. >>The Posters.

    They also stalked him & he does not take poop from anyone. I know the whole story.

    We have ran a very successful Computer Company for many years. But stating that my posted thread was outdated & causes people wasted time is absurd. The best advice & solutions & how to protect your network & files is thorough & covers everything that the poster here needed help with.

    Maybe you should really go read the whole thread! You might learn something!

    That thread is also posted on 2 other forums and one has 447K hits & the other one has 773K hits. This one here would have about 350K if my dad would have been here posting to people for help with this issue since V1803!

    Gathered the whole family around for that slice of life, did you?

    I did not see the apparently added edit to your last reply to me in the email notification nor was it present in/on the forum when I responded/replied back. Very inventive but please don't cry, I hate tears (gender non-specific, either way).

    There has been an individual that has been going about the business of doing what I was inquiring about over the last several years, if this is not you then that is good, (that's why I posted it as a question).

    No, I am by no means the Master of the Forum, nor do I portend to be.

    I do not know your Father, you do seem to be quite proud of him, as you should be, accordingly.

    No Probs, (well, the Einstein thing might be a little pretentious?), but anyway, sorry for the apparent mistake on my part in potentially identifying the guy/girl that has seemingly been trolling this site for a number of years (when an account becomes inactive for a period of time. or is cancelled, or has been changed all previous posts that have not been deleted or restricted by the moderators are reverted to the A. User account name, by default).

    To summarize, if/as you are not that unknown guy/girl/troll person then you do have my apologies accordingly to the implication associated on my part.

    Now that being said, welcome to the forum as a new/newish contributor for the interest in purpose of attempting to be of help to others (it can also become a learning experience for oneself)! Pay it forward and pay yourself, so to speak.
