Photos app freezes upon import / photo importing problems

Hello, I was trying to import photos from my iPhone via charging cable and upon import the photo app freezes. I reset my phone and tried again and it worked for the first import but another problem is that I can only upload 3-4 videos at a time before the photos app says something went wrong and I have to start the whole process all over again. Because of this, when I go to import again it just freezes once it hits my total photo and video count. This problem has been persistent ever since I started uploading photos and videos this past year or two and it really hinders my progress. Thanks for any help.

    hello everybody,

Roberts_195, on august 28, was right: "freezing problem has gone away".

I think this thread "Photos app freezes upon import / photo importing problems" should be closed.

During  a few months, to my knowledge,  import photos has worked as it was supposed to work.

May be, there was something wrong using OneDrive. See SabineKroeber's comment on september 7.

    I did not test that.

Unfortunately, since middle of december, a new Photos version (2020.20110.11001.0) introduced a new problemwhich is very well explainded in "Microsoft Photos 2020.20110.11001.0 - Missing import settings".

NikNJ describes an other method to import photos: this method is not using Photos application, it is using "Import Pictures and Videos" function in  Windows Explorer. It works correctly (Windows Explorer is more reliable than Photos...), but my feeling is it is not as simple as it seems. See details in "Complete Guide to Importing Your Photos in Windows 10" Obviously, . NigNJ  "blames MS and its incompetent Photos team". I am afraid he is right...

In "Microsoft Photos 2020.20110.11001.0 - Missing import settings".  you will find a comment dated december 23: emandude777 wrote "I did a bit of research, and I found anapp that does basically what Photos did for importing and organizing.

    Here it is.

Several users say they have tested this application. According to one of them, "It works just like the Photo App used to"...
