Photos app freezes upon import / photo importing problems

Hello, I was trying to import photos from my iPhone via charging cable and upon import the photo app freezes. I reset my phone and tried again and it worked for the first import but another problem is that I can only upload 3-4 videos at a time before the photos app says something went wrong and I have to start the whole process all over again. Because of this, when I go to import again it just freezes once it hits my total photo and video count. This problem has been persistent ever since I started uploading photos and videos this past year or two and it really hinders my progress. Thanks for any help.

I think I figured it out, the freezing at least but you can still only import a few photos at a time. When you open the photos app, before you press import go to the "Folders" section and then go to the one you usually put your pictures in. From there you can plug in your phone via USB cable and import your photos. I hope this helps someone because it worked for me getting a few videos and photos on for a school project.

Well this is a cluster indeed. After about an accumulated 13 hours, 7 different Microsoft Technicians, and 4 missed call back times - I give up!! The last update I received from a Level 2 "Supervisor" was a guarantee a Level 3 technician would call me on the date and time they scheduled with me. Guess what happened, nothing! They never called me, never sent an email follow up, absolutely nothing. I never heard back and it has been 3 weeks now...

The one thing I know for sure is they know about this issue but they do not have a solution for it. Every technician I spoke to, I showed them this thread. None of them wanted to acknowledge the thread nor the amount of people experiencing this issue. They all kept saying it's a known issue. That it only happens to iphones, which isn't factual because users with Samsung, LG, and other phones - not to mention cameras and memory cards - are all experiencing this issue.

Microsoft is too big to care about their customers.... At the end of the day, photos aren't a priority for them neither are their customers.

On your iPhone go to settings then to camera then to format and change the setting to Most compatible it worked for me it is only downloading Pictures that have not been downloaded before you may have to Hit the cancel button before it gets to the end of your pictures let me know if that works for you

I have tried every fix in here and nothing.  I was able to import all of my photos from Windows explorer - right clicking on Iphone.  This is not the solution I want, I want to be able to plug my Iphone in every so often and have only new photos get imported.  I don't want to have to go to icloud to download new photos, I don't want to have to see where I stopped last time.  This is insanity.  It used to work perfect, now it is garbage.  This post has 28 pages, and so far nothing....... frustrating indeed.
