Your Phone app shows duplicate sent messages

My Your Phone app is duplicating messages sent, sporadically. This has been happening the past few days. Windows and Your Phone apps have been updated. The duplicates are appearing in my Android texting app (Textra) as well. I have used Pulse, Google Messages, and Samsung Flow previously w/o this occurring.

Windows 10 Pro 1903

Android Pie, standard, non-rooted ROM

'Advisors', please don't ask me to run scannow or complete a repair install...thanks.

Did anyone ever resolve the duplicate messages issue? When i text from Your Phone app on my computer, it duplicates the outgoing texts on Your Phone, and also in Messages App on phone, and also to the people i am sending to.

I am running: Window 10 fully updated; Galaxy Note 10+ (Your Phone preinstalled/part of the operating system) fully updated. Anyone have any ideas?

    Hey Scott,

I appreciate the suggestion(s) and information provided.  At some point, I just stopped participating here; since it doesn't appear to be anything we're doing (or, not doing) that's causing it, then it isn't something we can fix.  Microsoft repeatedly gives the same invalid answers  -- "Go to this page and read these areas...", where those areas don't even exist -- so I figured I was wasting my time asking them for answers.

It has long seemed like something they're aware is happening, but their Support doesn't have a solution.  And, I'm not convinced it will ever be fixed.  The new industry trend (going far beyond just Microsoft) is to release buggy software that functions, even if it has a few problems.  As a Developer, I find that reprehensible, but it costs less than fixing all the bugs, I guess.

    Best of luck --

    Dave

    To all --

I'm using Win10 Pro (Version 1903 - Build 18362.295) w/ Samsung Galaxy S7 Edge (Android 8.0.0, not rooted). I see intermittent message duplications when I use the Windows 10 Your Phone app to send messages; so far, I can't find any clear reason why some duplicate while others don't.

I think it's safe to say that the folks at Microsoft have no idea what's causing this (which is why we're always pointed to the Help page so that we can "try" things). It's likely that this is being considered a very low priority, which means it'll be up to us to solve. So, if you have any information, thoughts, or suggestions, please share with the group.

To the Microsoft Community Moderator --

A recent response was identical to what I was previously advised, and it has the same problem now as it did before:  You instruct us to go to Your Phone app help and then read the sections "Why are some of my text messages missing?" and "I've tried everything, but I'm still stuck. What should I do?". As I previously noted, there are no sections with those titles, so asking us to do this is pointless.

Further diagnosis reveals that the problem is when you're running Your Phone App on computer and Messages App on Android phone. When you do that, every text sent from the Your Phone shows a duplicate of what you sent in Your Phone App and in Messages - often a moment or two after the text is initially sent as if it was a rebound from the App. And sure enough, if you change the Default App on the phone - I switched to SMS Organizer - it stops duplicating in Your Phone App on Computer and also Messages.

just started happening to me in the last 48 hours. i have tried:

    • uninstalling/reinstalling the app on the phone and the desktop
    • changing messaging apps on the phone (from default samsung messages to google messages)

has not changed. it is constantly duplicating my messages to the point that i have to stop using the app.
