KB4474419 will not install

I do have the same problem with Win 7 Ult and a Linux dual boot machine.

But since another answer shows that this even happens on non dual boot machines, I will not change the boot order.

Microsoft has to learn, that it is not the only OS on a machine and never will be in the future.

Microsoft made a similar mistake some years ago.

So I expect Microsoft to correct this mistake.

MS: when can we get this correction of false behaviour of KB4474419?

I am the original creator of this question. I do have a dual boot (Windows 7 and Linux mint 19.1).

Each of these operation systems are on separate physical drives. I normally boot from the Linux drive.

When I change the first boot drive to the Windows 7 drive I get an error say the bootmgr is missing.

When I search for how to fix  the bootmgr is missing problem, I get instructions requiring the DVD that was using to install Windows - nobody has this DVD if you purchased the computer with Windows already installed.

IMHO this is a problem that should be fixed by Microsoft.

Microsoft has driven we to stay on Windows 7 because Windows Media Center is not support in Windows 10 and I have not found a replacement the is as easy to install, configure, and use.

Why do I have  Linux Mint installed - to search for a replacement for Windows Media Center.

I got the same error on a computer with Windows 7 Professional but I don't have a dual boot just Windows. I use clonezilla to deploy the image , could this have created some kind of linux partition ?

Hello same problem on one of our company pc running Windows 7 Pro 32bit. But this computer doesn't has any dual boot linux, just plain windows running on a ssd, which is the first boot device anyway.

I guess it interferes with the update because the update writes some "tag" to do for the windows boot loader stage, which is not handled by the linux boot loader. Or when windows boots, he can't find the "tag" where he is supposed to find it.
