Disable Windows 10 automatic restart after updates

Is there any REAL way to disable this cancer feature?

This is not the first time i have lost unsaved work due to this annoying function, that almost every Windows user hates.

I'm trying to behave, but it is really hard to keep calm after loosing unsaved work multiple times.

Why is it that Windows cannot just wait until the user decides to restart at a convenient time? It's not like the end of the world that users doesn't restart at a specific time.

In a time where Apple's Mac is already "stealing" a lot of Windows customers, it is a very risky (and dumb) feature to add to Windows.

This alone is very difficult to argue against in a Mac vs. Windows discussion.

Luckily (for Microsoft) Microsoft have secured themselves from a law suit in their policy.

MS knows that all Windows users hates this feature, and yet they still have it. WHY?

So back to the question. Is there any official/unofficial way (FOR GOOD)  that allows me to disable this annoying feature?

I tried following some tutorials on YouTube, but little did it help obviously, as i just came home and found my computer restarted, and my work deleted.

    6 pages of comments with no solution from MS. I lost 2 weeks of scientific simulations! Probably I'm a winner in this category. I pay money for notebook, for OS and can't control it! I should find a way to crack this OS to stop auto-restarts! Why? Why??? Is it so difficult to show notification in tray area that restart is required to finish updates??? I'm a developer and can say it's simplest solution. Just let the user to decide where it's safe to restart their own PC! I'm so angry and so upset! I just don't understand a motivation of doing this with their customers. For what? What is the benefit of doing this for MS? My new OS will be Ubuntu, definitely. Never ever install MS Windows on my computer.

    I would imagine if my car decided to turn off the control during the turn at 60 mph.

    P.S. Do not suggest me to use an option to pause updates for N days (someone wrote about 35 days but I see only 7 in my Updates settings), it would not help in my case. And moreover I don't want to think about this, I have lots of much more interesting things to think about instead of turn on and off updates all the time.

    I agree 100% on this... 

    I an an engineer and also run simulations on my machine which can take days to run.

    I want to be in control of when my machine starts and stops!

    This is user-hostile behaviour where MS believes its software update philosophy is more important than peoples' livelihoods.

    Which bird brain at MS came up with the farcical behavior of forced re-start?

    This is not forced upon users of windows server software, why should windows 10 users be treated like low life plebs?

    Some of the pathetic replies on here are annoying and obstructive.

    Get this sorted out officially Microsoft.

    recently while I was reading paper aside, twice, I noticed my PC( windows 10) was flashing... rebooting itself? like a ghost!

    Really frustrated about M$ Windows!

    Besides, my new X1 Carbon 7th crazy fan noise, blowing the hot air to my right hand while using mouse! As a IT expert myself, I checked all the process, cannot find clue, only find TONS of svchost.exe running, don't know what they are doing, and you cannot cancel the process either!

    So annoying!

    Based on the above 2 phantom phenomena, finally I have to agree people's conclusion:

    Windows is Virus!

    My next PC definitely goes to Apple Macbook & macOS!
