Windows 10 v1903 - ntoskrnl.exe & ISR/DPC latency spikes

Hi,

After updating to 1903 LatencyMon associates ntoskrnl.exe with large latency spikes on the order of ~1,300µs. Same results with KB4497935.

I posted here too as I thought it could be related to the GPU driver:

Others are also reporting similar symptoms. E.g. in some instances this results in noticeable audio clicks/pops.

Are you seeing similar results?

Does anyone at Microsoft acknowledge this?

It should be easily reproducible.

SOLUTION:

KB4505903 seems to have significantly mitigated the ntoskrnl.exe latency spikes for many users.

    Can confirm, went back to 1809 and absolutely no more issues, tried 1903 twice, once via update, once via fresh install, and had ntoskrnl.exe issues both times. There is an issue with Microsoft Q/A that needs to be addressed.

    Didn't work for me. The solution is simply to stay on 1809 or earlier.

    Turning off power throttling also shouldn't be required, as the computer then wastes power unnecessarily. If this works for users, it is more of a workaround than a solution.

    SOLUTION (or at least a major factor):

    A member on the Nvidia forums pointed me to the Turn off Power Throttling setting and it seems to have significantly mitigated the ntoskrnl.exe latency spikes.

    I highly recommend that you try this. It's probably best to change the setting via gpedit.msc vs just the registry. Don't forget to reboot / re-login.

    UPDATE: Nevermind, did some further testing and this seems inconclusive.

    Same issue, ntoskrnl.exe causing dpc spikes and 1903 update is the issue since 18009 was fine.

    Same issue in here since i'm on 1903, stutters on playback for Netflix UWP.

    Didn't have any issues on 1809. Drivers were upgraded and nothing worked. 

    Please fix latency issues, those are noticeable.

    I'd to rollback to 1809, no issues. One of my PC is still 1903 and latency is high.
