I am desperately trying to get my camera back. first it came up with a error message. so I came here and someone said to uninstall the camera and restart the computer. I did that and now I cant find the camera icon in device manager. I came back here and asked again. I pretty much got the same reply but they said to go to action and "scan for hardware changes" I don't have that option and now im lost again. I don't get it because other than my firewall which ive since removed I have made zero changes to my computer and my camera was working 2 months ago and now its not. I don't know if there is an automatic update that I don't know about. but I went through the steps if it was updated and still nothing. it said if all else fails call the company that the camera belongs to, but I uninstalled so how am I supposed to know the name of it ?

    I download the the bois stuff and driver updates on the manufacturers stuff but then it brings up files I don't understand on winzip.

    Hi,

    Just some advice... Don't pay for anything, except for some assistance from Staples possibly... I don't know what they installed for you...

    If someone is charging for drivers and such, you are looking at someone's corrupt website... There are free alternatives to WinZip... 7-Zip is probably the best...

    Drivers are available from MSI, and the ones that are not are free from the device manufacturer... Even 3rd party sites provide free drivers...

    I don't know what you have in the way of media to Restore To Factory, but the way things sound, that may be the best option... You may be able to purchase any media you need from MSI, or possibly create your own from the factory Recovery Partition if available..

    It sounds like so many changes have been made to the machine that nothing at this point is going to make it "Normal" again except Restoring To Factory condition...

    Hello Laura.

    I'm Evan and I'll be happy to assist you. One word of advice I will say do not bother to update your bios unless you're experiencing hardware issues or incompatibility. I would say most people do not update their bios if ever.

    Secondly, which drivers are you looking to update? If you're using a laptop I highly suggest you do not use a third party program to download drivers and that you find them on your manufacturer's website.

    1. Use 7zip and zip the files that appear on the desktop after running the above command
    2. In the left lower corner search type:  dxdiag > When the DirectX Diagnostic Tool opens click on the next page button so that each tab is opened > click on save all information > save to desktop
    3. Add the dxdiag to the zip and post a share link into the thread using one drive, drop box, or google drive

    Updating the BIOS is something that should be left to the experts. The reason is simple: If you get it wrong then you might permanently wreck your motherboard.
