Remove Wireless Projection Banner from Desktop screen

Thank you for writing to Microsoft Community Forums.

I understand that you want to remove the Wireless Projection Banner from the screen as it keeps popping when you open a browser. May I know, if the PC is still connected to the wireless display when you are using the PC?

Also, you can try clicking on the PIN icon next to the Settings icon on the banner to unpin it.

However, as per the section Wireless projection experience in the article what's new in Windows 10, version 1809, the banner is designed similar to remote desktop connection where it will be removed when the wireless display is disconnected.

Dear Prahar,

Connecting of wireless display is big task in windows 10 , just after update we find this wireless display banner but still connecting issues not closed .

At least 10-15 tries required to connect wireless display , 90% both the screen black dark nothing is visible after connecting wireless display.

Request you please help in this regards.

In my case (I"m not the originator of the question) it does go away when I disconnect, and I know I can "unpin" it.  I just don't want it to appear in the first place:  is this option possible without my having to rename a file.

Simply annoying, more if you like to have the taskbar at the top of the screen. I like to have it there in my little Thinkpad.

I SOLVED it by renaming a file in c:\Windows\System32 named Windows.Internal.PlatformExtension.MiracastBannerExperience.dll

I've had to change the owner of the file from its Properties->Security->Advanced options->then at the top change the owner, next give permissions to Administrators users, and change the file extension to .old.

I've had to reboot for this lovely hack to take effect. I connected again to my Samsung wireless TV and no more stupid banner.

I don't know if this is a good advice but I've got rid of it.  I'm a simple user and won't be responsible if you burn your TV or Mars changes its orbit by renaming that file.

Please excuse my poor english.

MS please, why you call EXPERIENCE to things like this? If you add something to our work space, please let us disable it!! Or put it SMALLER.

Hey Ivan,  Thanks for the suggestion.  I tried this on 09/15/2018 and it worked for a few minutes, but then there must have been an update or something because the DLL was replaced and it started doing this again.  I have a screen print but not sure how to upload it.  It's odd because the date and time for the .OLD file being created (or renamed in this instance)  and the replacement DLL file being created are both 09/15/2018 12:29:14 AM.  As well as about 20 other "Application Extensions" that were updated in that directory.   I guess I just have to keep renaming this annoying file each time it's forced back on my laptop.

Hi Prakhar.... Unfortunately, it does NOT always go away when the wireless display is disconnected.   After I chose "Disconnect" this ridiculous, extremely irritating and useless feature that some idiot programmer at Microsoft thought would be so great, stays at the top of my screen for anywhere from 2 to 3 minutes after disconnect up to over 35 minutes before it just disappears on it's own.   The only way I've found to force it to go away is to reboot my laptop.  

It would be great if MS would consider doing a panel study or some type of super-user poll or something to gauge how people using this OS might respond to these types of useless add-ons BEFORE they forcibly push them out to millions of users.

Yes, but that does not solve the real issue. The banner is a nuisance while projecting. So glad I don't have to deal with it anymore!!!
