Microsoft account login password error

I just got a new computer. I am unable to register this device with my Microsoft account or use it to log into Microsoft because while it accepts my correct password at the first stage, it always claims my password is incorrect at the next stage when it prompts me to enter my password "one last time". I have made sure over dozen of tries that I am entering my password correctly, the same way, both times. I have changed my password to make absolute sure I know what it is.

I got to Settings > Accounts > Your Info > Sign in with a Microsoft account instead. First step, enter email address. Accepted. Second step, enter password. Accepted. Then, this prompt:

Sign into this computer using your Microsoft account

Next time you sign into this computer, use your Microsoft account password or, if you've set it up, your PIN or Windows Hello.

We'll need your current Windows password one last time.

The password you entered for your device is incorrect. Please try again.

No matter what I do, it always claims my correct password is incorrect. Please help

I went through the same problem with my new laptop.. I try to leave it blank, but it didn't work. So what I do is set a password for my laptop:

sign-in options > password > set your password for your PC 

Then try to sign in again to Microsoft account and when it ask for local account password, use the password you made just now. It works for me

Try entering your 'Windows' password, not 'Microsoft' password. 

Leaving it blank did not work nor did using  my local password. HELP!!!!!! So frustrated by this.

I had the same problem. I finally figured it out 2 hours later on my own. try leaving local password blank.

awwww ... thank u ... lost for minutes and then voilaaa it's done!! hahha
