Windows 10 1809 update deleted all files from Documents!

Your files are not gone. They have simply been moved. To check, do this. Go to "This PC". The click Windows. Next, select users. There should be a TEMP profile in there. If there is, that is the account you are currently using. Here is what you want to do. 

1. Make a new profile with admin privileges.
2. Move all the files from your old account to the new one.
3. After that, log out and log into the new profile.
4. Your files should be there.

NOTE; DO NOT MOVE YOUR FILES INTO THE TEMP PROFILE. IT WILL DELETE YOUR FILES AFTER YOU LOG OUT OR SHUT DOWN.

I have done at least 20 of the 1809 upgrades, both on my own computers and on those of others. I have had no occurrence of this problem. I think that the solution posted by CWWindows10 looks like it is worth a close look and try. Also, there is a comprehensive solution posted at https://www.techbout.com/fix-corrupt-user-profile-windows-10-9139/ posted by Waseem Patwegar that looks sound. Apparently, at least some people have found their missing files and folders in a newly created and hidden Admin identity. As noted in the Patwegar article, "Users have also reported a corrupt user profile after upgrading to Windows 10 from an older version of Windows."  That corrupted user file has accounted for the missing files in some cases. I hope that the link gets posted in this reply. If it doesn't, just search on "techbout fix corrupt user profile windows 10" and you should be able to find it. Good luck to all.

No they have been deleted, its aabout 500gb of data id notice if it had just been moved the temp folder youve mentioned isnt in that directory, ive contacted microsoft and had one if their support guys try to help who couldnt help

Im about to do the same thing but not through easeUS but why shoukd i have to pay to fix their mistake

i had major issues getting the 1809 update after finally getting to update it everything seemed fine but turning on my system today all my files have been deleted, im running the 1809 update build 17763.316, is microsoft going to pay for me to use some recovery software to get my data back

Last night I updated to 1809, and it all went smoothly, but then I find that all my files in Documents are DELETED. Gone. Poof. This included many crucial documents and financial info. Yes, I have a backup (I think - using Windows Backup to a NAS). But this is pretty bad. Did no one in the first two rings run into this yet?

I understand (from the news) that this happens to all files in Documents that aren't synced to OneDrive. Further, the Documents folder is really an agglomeration of "Documents" from several different paths - not sure how that works, and it may or may not relate.

Hey, everyone. I did what I shouldn't have done and moved my old files into the TEMP profile. Which permanently  deleted my files. OR SO I THOUGHT. I used EaseUS to recover and IT WORKED. I found my files and more. This link is here. You do have to buy it to remover more than 500MB but it is totally worth it. Note: You have to install it on a different drive (like a CD, external Drive, a different drive than the one you want to recover.) Like I said, it's totally worth it.
