Windows 10 1809 update deleted all files from Documents!

Last night I updated to 1809, and it all went smoothly, but then I find that all my files in Documents are DELETED. Gone. Poof. This included many crucial documents and financial info. Yes, I have a backup (I think - using Windows Backup to a NAS). But this is pretty bad. Did no one in the first two rings run into this yet?

I understand (from the news) that this happens to all files in Documents that aren't synced to OneDrive. Further, the Documents folder is really an agglomeration of "Documents" from several different paths - not sure how that works, and it may or may not relate.

Did you try MS recommendation to roll back to the previous version.

When a Feature update is installed there are never Restore points available from the previous version as they are no longer applicable.

Do you have a backup plan for the 18 years of files you are missing.?

You shouldn't have needed to buy a new PC there is always a way to recover the operating system.

That's very interesting, because most people who have had the problem are reporting their files are still gone even after rolling back.  You are very lucky!  I'm very happy you didn't lose anything.  Make sure you have a current backup of your files, just to be safe.
