windows 10 (October 2018 update) (version 1809) deleted all my files

I have just updated my windows using the October update (10, version 1809) it deleted all my files of 23 years in amount of 220gb. This is unbelievable, I have been using Microsoft products since 1995 and nothing like that ever happened to me.

Files were located at C:/Users/rober/Documents/

This location is still present, with no files. All of files deleted.

I am extremely upset. Not sure what to do….please let me know.

    Confesso que o Windows 10 está ficando cada cez melhor, porém após as ultimas atualizações o meu trava de uma maneira que nem o gerenciador de tarefas abre, tendo de desligar pelo botão.

    Ah right ok so a files and folders redesign. Ive not seen it but if the ui looks different it just needs exploring and may make sense.

    Need to look at the new feature update notes again but i didnt notice they were doing that. It should be mentioned cos its bound to cause panic.

    Other than deleting all my personal files, I cannot start any of my DAWS or music applications (Ableton, IKMultimedia apps), since everything seems to have been moved around. For some reason only my games seem to be working fine.

    Oh, and also windows store is not working properly.

    Help….

    (2) If you never personally changed the location of your documents folder while still 1803 (either the way I did or the other way), then it must have been 1809 that did it. It must be the default setting for 1809. That is a sad circumstance, considering OneDrive is normally only 5 GB in size. Those with more than that before the move appear to lose it all.

    But later in this thread AgingAardvark56 suggested to look in the online OneDrive Recycle Bin to see whether the excess ended up in there. Did you look? Right-click the OneDrive icon, & select "View online".

    I did take a look, in the online OneDrive Recycle Bin. There are some files in there, but they are of the type that you would expect. Mainly overwrites for auto save games and such. Not the missing 100GB VM file unfortunately.

    Yes, basically. It was moved TO where you see it now. It had disappeared from the previous location. But since this update of Windows 10 has done a basic redesign of the Files and Folders Features some things have been moved about a bit. Others not.  I did not, however, notice anything that was really LOST. And, I suspect, this is true for others, as well.

    Anyway, I suggest they run the checks I advised as well as looking about a bit in C/Users
