I was not trying to say that. I and we all should use windows update only to install updates. What I said to install manually was the feature updates[The update that changes the entire version which sizes upto 3 GB]
ONLY. What I recommended was to DOWNLOAD AND INSTALL THE ISO FOR THE LATEST FEATURE UPDATE FROM THE OFFICIAL MICROSOFT SITE MANUALLY RATHER THAN WINDOWS UPDATE.
But for other updates[cumulative update definition update office updates] Please use the windows update.
Windows update determines which is best for our pc and what our pc needs. I too used windows update only to install the recent cumulative update 17763.55.
Even if you decide to upgrade or install a fresh copy, YOU CAN USE THE ISO WHICH YOU CREATED USING THE MEDIA CREATION TOOL. Its very useful later to correct your pc if you had problems and errors. With that ISO you can upgrade your pc Whenever you want
That's why I recommend TO DOWNLOAD AND INSTALL MANUALLY ONLY THE TIME WHEN WINDOWS RELEASES ITS FEATURE UPDATE NOT FOR OTHER UPDATES
Hope it helps...……..
Yes and I have already corrected that mistake once Jim Wynne notified me of it and I could think of no reason why you felt it necessary to comment unless you just don't read all the posts in the thread.
I thanked Jim and apologized to Sumit and so what it had to do with you I wouldn't know.
Anyway, I don't even understand why Microsoft pulled the update since insofar as I and many others could confirm there was no data loss on OUR computers. But we were not using OneDrive, Storage Sense, or the Automatic Deletion of files and folders that had not been accessed over a certain period of time. That is pretty obviously where the problem is stemming from and has nothing to do with the Update as such,
As I said previously...you couldn't PAY me to roll back to Windows 10 version 1803.
https://www.groovypost.com/howto/use-windows-10-storage-sense/
That is impossible ‘destiny033’ there is nothing wrong with the 1809 update and/or it doesn't cause those sorts of issues! You must have some serious virus problems and/or account issues, I would do a clean install of all systems. Do not do a ‘restore’ go to https://www.microsoft.com/en-au/software-download/windows10 and ‘Create Windows 10 installation media’ on a USB drive and install windows that way. Yiour computer(s) must be infected and/or corrupted by some sort of a virus. Hope this help, cheers
Wups! My mistake! Thanks for clearing that up, Jim!
Just glad I have 1809. It is a far superior build to 1803.
and I still think that other guy was on to something with the connection between OneDrive, Storage Sense, and the automatic file deletion it does. Nobody who had Storage Sense turned off or OneDrive uninstalled (I have always been in the latter category because I hate OneDrive's intrusiveness. When I want to use it I know where to find it on-line and how to log in and move certain files and folders there (copies of them, that is, in zip format, you know).
ANYWAY none who fall into either of these two categories I just mentioned have reported LOSING any files.
Mere coincidence?
