Windows 10 Bluetooth to LG Soundbar not working

Windows 10 PC will no longer connect to my LG Soundbar via bluetooth. They pair okay, but the LG speaker does not show up in the list of available speaker output devices.

I have tried removing the LG bluetooth device and then reconnecting to it, but it made no difference.

Other audio source devices, eg, ipod, connect, and work correctly with the LG soundbar via Bluetooth.

Has something changed in Windows that is now stopping this connection working? It stopped working about 3 months ago I think.

Any ideas

Thanks

Paul

Remove the device. Open Command Prompt as admin.

Run this command :

reg add HKLM\SYSTEM\ControlSet001\Control\Bluetooth\Audio\AVRCP\CT /v DisableAbsoluteVolume /t REG_DWORD /d 1 /f

Add the device again and now you can play.

Have fun! :)

Solution from Arcolion 20 Nov 2020

Worked for me on 2 Windows 10 laptops and an LG Micro (2010!). Had to reboot after the registry edit and had to reset advnaced sound properties in Windows Sounds on one of them (It would play Youtube ads through Bluletooth but the videos would revert to Windows speakers. All working fine now

I found the solution for my LG HTS here thanks to the user who shared it at the end of the link.

https://superuser.com/questions/1310342/connected-bluetooth-headphones-dont-appear-as-playback-device-in-windows-10

he mentions windows has already released a solution again at the end of the link:

https://support.microsoft.com/en-hk/help/14169/windows-10-fix-bluetooth-problems

follow the instructions here to disable the absolute volume function for headphones in the registry.

hope it helps. it was very annoying not being able to use it.

So, I had the same issue with LG SJ9. I read all the comments here and what worked for me was to connect the soundbar to the wifi and update its firmware using the music flow app on my phone. worked like a charm. Thanks!

    mrjonezzzzzzz

You problem sounds exactly the same as mine, just different LG soundbar models.

You are absolutely correct, I am very disappointed at both Microsoft and LG for failing to fix this or identify which party is responsible.

Like I said, my soundbar works with Windows 1709, yours likely will too.

Windows 1803 was released on April 30, 2018 so it has now been broken for 1 year and 5 months.

It looks like the LG SJ8 soundbar was released Apirl 18, 2017. So just over a year after LG released your soundbar Bluetooth stopped working and they have done **** all to fix it for the last 1 year and 5 months. They should of at least determined possible resolutions to address these cases and have a timeline indication with a solution will be implemented.

Please contact LG, mention the VOC VCN190802076764 and tell them your issue is the same but you have a different model LG soundbar.

I've just asked them for an update on this VOC and this was their reply.

    "Reply to Your Inquiry

We appreciate your timely correspondence regarding the status of your submitted VOC ticket, Anonymous_568

. It is a pleasure to further assist you today.

In response to this, I have checked the status of the VOC number VCN190802076764 and it appears to be still submitted to our management team. However, regarding VOC tickets, please be advised that the VOC is designed to let our management team be aware of these changes with the software/hardware compatibility of our LG units and determine the possible resolution to address such cases. The changes will then more likely be released as a software update if it is determined to be a software-related concern, or be used as an improvement for our future LG units if it is classified as issue with hardware compatibility. Also, while the VOC ticket will not generate a callback from our management team, rest assured that it is being reviewed periodically and is being utilized as valuable inputs for the improvement of our future products and services.

Thank you very much for your kind understanding.

I hope that this deal of information is helpful in addressing your inquiry. Should you have further inquiries or clarifications in mind, please do let us know and we’ll be glad to help you out. You can reach us again via Email, Live Chat or Phone by calling 1-800-243-0000.
