Bluetooth volume broken after Windows 10 1803 update

I have a Samsung DA-E670 bluetooth(BT) speaker that I use as my main speakers connected via BT. After the Windows 10 version 1803 update recently, I can no longer adjust the volume of these speakers from the master mixer in the taskbar.

The slider moves but the volume doesn't change unless it's slid to the minimum then it mutes.

The same issue happens on my laptop after this 1803 update.

However, on my new Sennheiser headphones the behaviour has changed differently. Adjusting the volume on the headphones built-in volume control, changes the Windows main mixer volume. I can learn to adjust to this change but I would need to be able to control the volume of my Samsung speakers via Windows like before.

My research points to something about a mismatch of Bluetooth profiles. Has anyone had this issue and if so, are there any work arounds or fixes?

Also, I have been in touch with Microsoft support chat a bunch of times (5 or 6 times) and they have tried everything from;

BT troubleshooter

Re-installing drivers

Updating drivers

Installing bad drivers, breaking the BT

some weird registry and other actions I don't know the details about

Hello guys, 

I also have a problem with my Edifier R2730DB, however I solved the problem by changing a value from 0 to 1 in the registry. 

Follow the steps from this post:

"You should try this fix It worked to me:

  1. Open Windows Registry (regedit.exe).
  2. Jump to  Computer\HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\ControlSet001\Control\Bluetooth\Audio\AVRCP\CT
  3. Create  REG_DWORD  DisableAbsoluteVolume and set it's value to  1.

Important: You need to restart your PC for changes to take affect.

    I had the same problem with my Ausdom AH861 headphone and crated a program that forces Windows 10 to behave like before the update.  I hoped that Fall update (1809) would address this problem, but apparently it didn't.  So, I've made it available for the people who are having the similar problem.

    It's in beta testing, but it can be downloaded from https://www.bluetoothgoodies.com/tweaker/ .

    Thanks for the program. It's not actually fixes the problem by controlling the bluetooth's volume but instead it changes the volume on the pc and then it lets the driver do the rest by sending the sound through it. Its a clever idea! My volume worked perfect before i did the new 1809 update a few hours ago and i am searching for drivers for the past 2 hours.

    I will IMPROVE on this solution by the following:

    Go to this page:

    https://www.catalog.update.microsoft.com/Search.aspx?q=0000110b-0000-1000-8000-00805f9b34fb

    It searches for the OFFICIAL MICROSOFT DRIVERS relating to the device 0000110b-0000-1000-8000-00805f9b34fb which is RtkA2dp - basically your bluetooth speaker drivers.

    Choose the latest driver

    Realtek - MEDIA - 6/22/2018 12:00:00 AM - 1.1.137.3 Windows 10 version 1803 and Later Servicing Drivers Drivers (Sound) 6/22/2018 1.1.137.3 104 KB

    and download it on your machine and extract the files.

    Then follow the same procedure from point 3 onwards to update your drivers:

    The benefit from this driver is that it is much newer than the 2014 driver suggested, and it will reconnect my bluetook speaker automatically after a reboot! EXCELLENT. ENJOY!

    1. Open 'device manager' and find name of your bluetooth stereo in 'Sound, Video and Games controller'.
    2. Right click and --> Update Driver Software.
    3. '**Browse my computer for driver software'.**6. 'Let me pick from a list of device drivers on my computer'. 7. 'Have disk'. **8. 'Browse' --> Find the files you just extracted and click OK to****install.**9. Should be fine!

    Not wanting to be overly optimistic, but it seems that the system global volume control of my BT speakers started to work properly again today.

    The only update I got since 1803 was KB4464218 that seems completely irrelevant to the issue.

    (I've tried also the "Old Volume Control" setting from Winaero Tweaker, but it had no effect back then.)
