Updating to Windows 10 version 1803 freezes on the Windows logo upon reboot

Good day, that solution will not work for me. I have done everything under the sun, and i am tech, and can not install the 1809 update. This update downloads, installs, then wants to reboot. You reboot now, there she goes, through the bios screen then on to the windows 10 logo. At that point everything stops-keyboard, mouse, everything except the hard drive which you can hear running at maximum velocity. You can leave the machine all night long, but when you awaken in the morning, it is still unchanged. Please do not suggest any of the generic solutions, as I have been through every suggestion on the web. I have now given up on updating for now, putting it off for 180 days, or until Microsoft comes out with a newer version. I have even tried a clean installation and can't do that either, not with the 1809, it simply boots to the logo and will not proceed to install. No, nothing at all. If anyone at Microsoft has figured this out. please let me know. Thanks. Oh, its an old Toshiba laptop with a dual-core processor and 2 gigs of memory, it qualifies for the updates and has always updated in the past without so much as a burp.

Just forget all pseudospecialist and microsoft too for this problem and search with old geek for a real solution to the **** micro have done in 1803 all about vt-d and or vt-x virtualisation.

For you the solution is to just go in your bios at start of machine and disable an internal option vt-x and or vt-d (sometime reported as intel virtualisation tech" or similar.

and the problem is gone after that.

and thanbk to all Specialist whoi just says all time youll have to restart pc or its your fault like just buy another crap.

I had the same issue on a machine, where I need upgrade from Win10 education to pro. When booting the latest 1803 or even 1809, It stucks on the window logo screen before the installer started. After 1,5 days of trying EVERYTHING, I installed a older 1709 version.

Everything worked well, but thanks to the forced updates which were introduced in Windows 10, the system imdediatly upgraded to 1809 before I even could troubleshoot the issue. After rebooting, the system doesn't boot any more. Under Windows 10, users no longer have a say in what happens to their system, which is already a big reason against Microsoft products.

Now after 2 days I found out that Microsoft produces buggy software that hangs when common default features like VT-d are enabled. Now I'm able to re-install my device, which tooked over 2 days instead of 2-3 hours.

BIG Shame on Microsoft to their bad software quality! Not even enough that Win10 spys me out, now we have to deal with such bugs. that are known since MONTHS and since 2 versions no fix is avaliable. It is your luck that microsoft still has a monopoly position. I would have switched to linux long ago, if i'd not been forced to use Windows for games that weren't ported to Linux (yet).

The weird thing for me is, ive had this issue since the 1703 build of Windows where when trying to do an upgrade within Windows, it hangs after the first reboot at the Windows startup screen.

I tried disabling all of the virtualization features on my MSI X99A SLI Krait board, but i still have the same issues. Doing a clean install works fine; i dont have any issues booting. Its only the upgrade from within Windows that has hung on my system anytime i try to do a build upgrade. I've had to do a fresh install for each of the past three builds.

Does ANY one have any advice?? Im getting tired of doing this every six months .

Had the same symptoms but my issue ended up being the NIC drivers.  Disabled NIC so it didn't try to connect to the internet as it boots up. Got back into OS that way. Uninstalled NIC software drivers and re-installed seems to have fixed this for me.
