File System Error (-2147219196) - Can't open photos, groove, calculator...

Updated to Version 1803 OS Build 17134.1

Now cannot open Photos, Groove, Calculator, and I'm sure a bunch of other apps....

Any help would be appreciated.

Open Start, type: powershell

Right click PowerShell

Click Run as administrator



Type the following command then hit Enter, exit PowerShell then restart, then try updating through the Store again.



Get-AppXPackage | Foreach {Add-AppxPackage -DisableDevelopmentMode -Register “$($\_.InstallLocation)\AppXManifest.xml”}

Check if you can launch the Microsoft Store, then update the apps.

If this does not work, I recommend you attempt a repair upgrade:

    Andre, thanks for the help.  Nothing with a Mac is this this involved, which is why I am readying a hole in my yard for this Dell XPS from Satan.   My video files don't work.  Photo files work.  MP3's work. 

    I open start.  By this you mean, I start the computer?  Where do I type "powershell", please?  Assume I can only see the keys in front of me and know nothing of Windows, even though I have had this Windows laptop for a year.

    Your installation has multiple issues which go beyond the actual problem of this thread. If you can't open Start it might be an issue with the graphic driver (this is what I have noticed the other day). You can do Windows + X, open elevated Powershell and run the suggested solution for app repair again. However, I assume you are facing multiple problems so you might have to tackle them independently. But start with a reinstall of the apps then try to uninstall / reinstall your graphics driver to latest version. If that doesn't work you can still try to rollback to a previous version or do an inplace update if nothing else solves the problem. This might finally fix it, if not you have to completely reset your installation...

    Otherwise start Powershell (powershell.exe) from this path as Administrator

    %SystemRoot%\system32\WindowsPowerShell\v1.0

    or

    C:\WINDOWS\system32\WindowsPowerShell\v1.0

    Chatted/received help with Windows update on 12/28/18.

    Windows would not update/error codes. 

    Took control and manually updated.

    Since then, same problem – and more.

    Error code: (0x80073712)          Error code: (0x80073712)

    Ran troubleshooter.

    Cannot left click Windows key.

    Cannot left click/enter on search dialogue box on taskbar.

    Windows Defender Security Center will not start.

    Also:

    Cannot open some files from One Drive –

    File system error(-2147219196)
