OneDrive automatically deleting files from OneDrive folder

The OneDrive forum appears to have been locked, so I am trying this one.

I moved some large files (photos) to my OneDrive folder to share between PCs and left them synchronising.  When I came back to check on their progress, the files had disappeared from the PCs.  Looking at the OneDrive window it shows them being added to Onedrive then mysteriously being removed a few minutes later.  What on earth is going on?    I tried Ctrl & Z to see if it could undo the removal.  The files looked as if they were being restored - but just disappeared again.  It's a good job I noticed, otherwise I could have lost these files forever.  I can't afford to have my important files just disappearing like that.

    Agree. Microsoft has ignored this thread for years. Any way Satya Nadella (MS CEO) gets involved?

    Our firm is using OneDrive to store our file system in order to work on the go. It had appeared to be working successfully for a number of months until today when we were looking for files to be referenced in an upcoming set of exhibits for a potential lawsuit. THE WHOLE FOLDER of exhibits had been erased. When we found out about this I started looking through the recycle bin and found A TON OF MISSING FILES!

    This is absolutely unacceptable and could have the potential to cause a business to go under. 

    Has anyone been able to help on the solution for this? 

    If Microsoft is unwilling to address these issues we should all assemble for a class action lawsuit.

    For me it was a laptop and desktop.  Its most likely a synch issue. MS engineer kept stating Onedrive does not delete files. Semantics. I delete a file on laptop and when synch works it deletes it on desktop.  I believe agent does not see files and decides to delete them, then replicate deletes everywhere else. I have stopped using it. Totally unreliable.  The engineer even kept trying to redifine the definition of cloud storage. LOL if it does not redundantly store then its a recycle bin 🙀

    Same issues here; OneDrive deleting files and folders. Fortunately, the deleted items appear to be in the Recycle Bin, but haven't checked this rigorously. I use Onedrive across a couple Win10 PCs, and a iPhone and iPad, and I'm betting the issue is something to do with cross platform synchronization where the local files on some devices can be quite old, and OneDrive somehow cannot resolve which versions of the folders and files are the newest. I have received the message (in the past), mentioned in prior emails in this string, of the mass deletion of files, but of today's file and folder deletions, I received no notice, which is disturbing and also requires Microsoft's investigation.

    This anomaly is embarrassing and does require a fix.

    What is wrong with Microsoft???

    One year people having this problem and not a single answer. This is a HUGE problem. I have been having the same issue for more than 6 moths. Last time, a lost a lot of files it was on March 10/19. I have had to recover from recycle bin at least 5 times in the last 6 moths. Also, some of my image documents have been renamed to existing Word and Excel documents. That means, when I restore my Word and Excel documents, I get pictures and lose my original documents. I completely lost confidence in OneDrive. Now I have to do what you are not suppose to do whey you have a cloud service; do regular backups on a hard disk.

    I am paying for the 50G storage.

    Microsoft. DO SOMETHING!!!!! Contact us, solve our problem on a one-on-one basis. Do you understand the impact of loosing years of work? This is a good reason for a class lawsuit. Time to involve Satya Nadella?
