Lumia 950XL - Project My Screen not working after Win10 1803 Update - Black Screen

I use my 950XL extensively for demos of my company's software because it's much better display than my iPhone and doesn't need additional apps to do it.

I updated my Win10 desktop today to 1803 and also my phone updated to .104 and the app no longer works.

When I open the app I get the message on the phone to ask if I want to share and I agree. The display on the desktop is black, but I can actually start applications on the phone by clicking inside the black window, so there obviously is a connection, just no display.

I was working perfectly, but not now.

As a workaround, is it possible to use continuum? I'm sure there used to be an option to display the phone's screen rather than a full desktop to the connected display but that appears to be no longer available

    Opps.. I was wrong : the APP I tested is not the last one, but it is the last but one.

    The WP81ProjectionClient_Test does not show any window. It flashes something very shortly, which I cannot recognize, then nothing happens.

    Also, it is only 4k long, while the working app is 98 kB long.

    I'm afraid the console debug app just crashes when I start it so I see a window appear then instantly disappear.

    A lot of the time the main app crashes and when it starts it always only displays a black screen after connecting. My phone restarts 100% of the time after main app close/crash.

    It looks like to works for Aurelio. If mine worked like that I'd be happy.

    nyama3310, thanks a lot for your efforts.

    I tried your last edition of the exe on my Lumia 640XL LTE (display is 1280x720, Win10phone  ver. 1703, build 10.0.15063.1206 ) ( On PC : Win 10 pro 64 bits, ver 1803, build 17134.165 ) :

    • it works ok, whatever is done on the phone is reflected on the PC
    • the app on the PC takes a while to start and to display its windows. Say some 15 seconds. But not always.(?)
    • orientation OK. It is reflected on the PC
    • quality of the characters on the app screen is considerably bad. Images/colors look reasonably ok. It looks like there is a screen resolution problem, indeed. See the image below.  No warning message about resolution appears.
    • phone auto-boot problem : I tried different ways , close the app and remove USB cable, viceversa.... I did not see any boot.
    • no input recognized from PC to phone. In other words PC mouse is not recognized by the PC app
    • swiping my finger on the phone screen I can see a yellow dot on the PC reflecting the movements on the phone screen.
    • and the good news : the app functions "save screen to image file" and "save screen to video file" both  work as a charm.The image here below has been captured using the app function.

     

    Until MS fixes ( if ever .... ) the original app, I'll  stick with this one.

    This is console app for debug purpose to be included original source.

    If Capturing is normal, It displays messages like the fllowing:

    My MADOSMA has 720x1280 display and this app capture reduced image(450x800/16bit(RGB565)) continuously.

    Lumia 950XL has huge display(1440×2560).

    Can you see any message?

    Thanks for trying, much appreciated.

    I can live with the reboot on close but unfortunately I get no display projection. With the original I get a scrambled display but this one gives me just a back area in the app. It recognises the phone type in the devices menu and prompts me on the phone when I connect but unfortunately doesn't display anything. 

    I'm using a Lumia 950XL.

    Thanks for the effort anyway - I'm still convinced this is quite close.
