I am running Windows 10 on an HP laptop. The last couple of days OneDrive continually says "Signing In" but never gets signed in. It has been fine prior to this. What do I do to correct the problem?

Hi,

I'm Diego Rios, an Independent Advisor willing to help other Microsoft customers.

Please, clear your browsers from cache, temporary files, cookies, etc, Then verified that you place the right credentials and log in to your account. Then follow the procedures in the link below:

  1. Exit OneDrive (right click in the system tray)
  2. Go to Control Panel > User Accounts > Credential Manager
  3. Click on "Windows Credentials" (on the right)
  4. Choose the down arrow to the right of "OneDrive Cached Credential"
  5. Choose Edit, and enter your OneDrive (Microsoft Account) Username/Password.
  6. Go to the start menu, and launch "OneDrive" again

This may restore your OneDrive without resetting your local copy.

Alternatively, simply remove the "OneDrive Cached Credential" (there is an option to do so) and let OneDrive start over. The positive side is IF you wanted to move your OneDrive to another location, you'll have the opportunity to do so during the reset. Either way, you will NOT lose your online data.

Please let me know if this helped and works.

Best Regards,

Diego R.

When you said "Reinstall" to get One Drive signed in did you earlier Uninstall the whole thing and re-set up the folder syncing location? The things is that my OneDrive suppose to run on 2 accounts one for Work and the other (grey icon) for personal account. As said before the problem occurs only on the personal One Drive account which is a bummer as well.

I really hope somebody from internal Microsoft tech team could identify what went wrong with the sign-in on personal account.

Hi @Shaun_Sean well I have tried this tick and untick and generate no difference. It is intermittent problem when the Windows after finished update it was working fine but then after reboot the computer the problem persists. My work account under Office365 subscription has been no issues since first time the problem only occurs on my personal account (free account). But thank you for your input/suggestion here.

I had to reinstall to get One Drive signed in.  It was too much of a bother so I ignored it.  The files I have out there are not volatile and I have them backed up otherwise - so no biggie.

In the fullness of time, One Drive sign-in succeeded and hasn't given me any problems since.  Sign-in is automatic when I start up my PC.

My suspicion is that Microsoft noticed that it had this problem and fixed it, at least for my Office 365 subscription.  That gets updated regularly but there is no indication of what's been updated.  (This problem is on a Win 7 Pro system, hasn't been an issue with  a Win 8.1 system - but that system doesn't have an Office 365 subscription.)  Could be something in the way One Drive interacted with Win 7 Pro.)

Yes that is correct, but be reminded it does not necessarily resolve the issues...at least it does not on my case.
