Microsoft Refund Dept.

I just received my 12th call from them (800-626-4230) this time.  I keep blocking numbers but they keep calling. Four days ago they connected me with a woman living in Texas, I'm in Pennsylvania, she too wanted them to stop calling.

When asked do I remember paying for Tech  Support, I say yea,Geek Squad, they say yes...can you get in front of your computer I say no you have it in the store... they hang up.

I got a similar voice mail from a company claiming to be Microsoft Refund Department.  The number I was given is 888 394 2669.  I am sure a forwarded IP phone and will be gone by a week.  I am not sure how FBI cannot tract this from the Internet Service Provider's DNS logs. I am a Microsoft Certified professional so I know right away that this was a scam but I called the number back to collect more information to pass on to forums like this one.  As expected, the person answered, with a heavy asian Indian accent with a lot of background noise offered me to pay $400.00 back due to a support contract I purchased in 2017.  Which I did not. He did have my full name and phone number correct. He asked me to get on my computer to go to a site and securely connect to download a refund from, which he claimed I can electronically submit it. At which point I have terminated the call.

I also received a call from "Microsoft Refund Dept.". Since I didn't pick up they left a computer generated message stating her name as Kathy Jackson from tech support and to call 877 721  7434. for my refund. The reason I am posting this is I wanted to see if anyone else received such messages. Imagine my surprise when I realized the first comment about this subject was posted 2013!!! That was five years ago. Five years of people being scammed, losing money and whatever else. How could this still be happening without them being stopped? And the first one I saw was from the Netherlands, meaning this is an international scam.  AND it was on this site. Doesn't anyone at Microsoft oversee their own site?

Same scam in 2019 got 5 calls from the robotic miss jackson just to let everybody know they changed scam numbers to 888 617-3342

I just hang up as soon as I hear it   some organization should try a reverse look up I'm sure some people fall for these scams otherwise they would die out

I just had the same phone call. Having not bought technical support from Microsoft I am ignoring the message but thank you to whoever originally posted this message so we all know Kathy Jackson is a computer scammer. Much appreciated.

Jacqueline, the numbers are created on the internet so the call is coming in on VOIP or Voice Over Internet Protocol.  For example, right now a ROBO call that is popular in my area code 904, is for Amazon and we are told that 25 jobs within 24 hours please go to this website immediately.  Amazon has been notified.  The Federal Government has been notified, to shut down the fake website listed in the phone recording.  That is the only thing Amazon can do because it is a ROBOT phone number generating telephone call.   There is no such thing as Caller ID.  Get Skype, call the number back from online and make certain that Skype is NOT showing your real phone number as the number calling.  

There is also a few programs out there that you can "turn on" during a phone call and the app takes the phone call from your phone and talks to the person wasting their time.  

I remember back in the '80s when they were first having issues with hackers and scammers, pups, viruses, firewalls, and then the invention of the waterless cooling system that made cell phones become little computers instead of flip phones, flat screen tv's, laptops, etc.  For everything we have, there is going to be some monster catfish.   

Microsoft can no longer stop the VOIP calls than you can, but microsoft has always taught safety and hired the first hackers to help create firewalls and antivirus programs.  Not everyone uses them or keeps them updated.
