My PC is working really normal before update. After I update my windows 10 the system show this message.

C:\WINDOWS\system32\config\systemprofile\Desktop is unavailable. If the location is on this PC, make sure the device or drive is connected or the disc is inserted, and then try again. If the location is on a network, make sure you're connected to the network or internet, and then try again. If the location still can't be found, it might have been moved or deleted. - OK

Then I click ok after that I only see recycle bin and task bar, which can not do anything background is black, so I restart by using ctrl+alt+delete and run safe mode(safe mode with network).

In safe mode it has no This PC it just has recycle bin and some program and I can't open any file location of any program after that I turn off my pc for 30 sec then open it the result is

C:\WINDOWS\system32\config\systemprofile\Desktop is not accessible

Access is denied. -OK

Only recycle bin and task bar and black background again.

I have no idea to fix this problem any more. Please I really need some help. THANK YOU. My English is not professional I hope you understand my message.

Hi Thirut,

Open Windows File Explorer

On the View Ribbon, check the box marked 'Hidden Items'

C:\users\Default\

Right click and copy the Desktop folder contained in the Default Folder

Navigate to: C:\Windows\system32\config\systemprofile

Right click and Paste the Desktop folder into the systemprofile folder

Restart (not shut sown) your PC

Microsoft tech helped me and it worked!

Heres what to do. (Note:i have an hp pavillion)

turn off computer and turn back computer; as soon as you see computer logo (in my case hp)

    turn it off again.

*repeat until a bottom message appers under logo (i did it 3 times)

(message should say something like automatic repair)

it will reset your computer to previous settings. It gives you option to keep files which i needed my files.

Process took about 2.5 hours. I logged back in, and did the update again. I was so scared it didnt work. But it did. CoMputer is like NEW. Thanks tech Orontes

Just a small follow up to mine...

I was finally able to get into Windows 10- with a fresh install but for whatever reason it insisted on a log on- Admin or Other User (I never had a log on screen before that).

I tried to restore my back up to see if that would help any and to get MY settings back.  That sort of worked (all my files etc showed up)but still have to log in (and I don't want to)- and sort of shows my desktop (with really funky looking icons) but no settings the way I had my Windows set up previously (bg image on desktop, color theme,  resizing to make things bigger etc).

I will be trying the copy Desktop folder suggestion but after I figure out why now all of my USB ports are ..."dead"- have tried everything to get them working again but nada- I suspect it's connected to Windows as I can boot into my PuppyLinux USB drive.

Gave up on it for the last few weeks but trying again this week...maybe.

    Small progress....

I am so happy for you.  I am looking for a solution to my problem but got caught up in your issues because I have been that lost and frustrated before.  Half I do I have no idea why but after hours of trial and error and this forum I (we) fix it.  I am just happy you had a positive outcome.  Good luck Peace out Cindy xo
