My PC is working really normal before update. After I update my windows 10 the system show this message.

C:\WINDOWS\system32\config\systemprofile\Desktop is unavailable. If the location is on this PC, make sure the device or drive is connected or the disc is inserted, and then try again. If the location is on a network, make sure you're connected to the network or internet, and then try again. If the location still can't be found, it might have been moved or deleted. - OK

Then I click ok after that I only see recycle bin and task bar, which can not do anything background is black, so I restart by using ctrl+alt+delete and run safe mode(safe mode with network).

In safe mode it has no This PC it just has recycle bin and some program and I can't open any file location of any program after that I turn off my pc for 30 sec then open it the result is

C:\WINDOWS\system32\config\systemprofile\Desktop is not accessible

Access is denied. -OK

Only recycle bin and task bar and black background again.

I have no idea to fix this problem any more. Please I really need some help. THANK YOU. My English is not professional I hope you understand my message.

Hi Thirut,

Open Windows File Explorer

On the View Ribbon, check the box marked 'Hidden Items'

C:\users\Default\

Right click and copy the Desktop folder contained in the Default Folder

Navigate to: C:\Windows\system32\config\systemprofile

Right click and Paste the Desktop folder into the systemprofile folder

Restart (not shut sown) your PC

Can windows start? If you are getting into Windows now try the following.

Try running in administrator command prompt. Copy and paste the commands from here to command prompt. 2 commands below.

If you get errors reboot and run again until no more errors are found. I do hope this works for you. Both commands take a while to run.

Open the command prompt by typing command prompt in windows search bar It will show up on top, right click and choose run as administrator.

sfc /scannow           (there is a space between the sfc and/)

            dism /online /cleanup-image /restorehealth   ( same space between all words and /)

If these commands don't work and you can work in the desktop try to download the ISO file of windows 10 from the website to the downloads folder on your hard drive. . Save it to your downloads folder. Go to your downloads folder . Mount it by right clicking . Run setup..exe. You may need to show hidden files. Just run the setup right over the existing one.

Windows 10 has been a disaster for many users. I do hope something will help. You mmay have to resort to a clean install. If you are getting into Windows back up anything important to you to external drive or usb flash. Do you have any other antivirus installed other than Defender? Uninstall other antivirus or malware software as they interfere with Windows. You also may need to update drivers. Sorry You now get a new error.

Do not download their software. Just do the steps.

Honestly, it's hit and miss between the two errors.  I spent most of yesterday and this morning looking for my external to no avail.  Perhaps I can get the sihost error with functionality and backup to Dropbox.  Once you hit the "ok" on that error, it goes to black screen.

I do have Avast on our PCs.  However, after running a scan on a flash drive before transferring files, it wiped the flash drive clean and now unusable with a write-protection. I just haven't had the time to get rid of it for something else.  Thanks for that tip.  Let's see what happens.
