PC won't boot to Windows 10 from SSD

At this point that may be the best thing... Everything else that normally works is not working... I think that is partly due to the fact that HDD was hooked up when you installed to the SSD, but power failures don't help anything... Be sure to keep the HDD unhooked until everything is done...

In the future, you might consider keeping backup images of your OS with something like Acronis TrueImage... It's has special pricing frequently...

There are some free ones available, but you do not want one that requires installation to create bootable media... You need to boot with the imaging recovery program to restore Windows...

Acronis comes on a CD that is bootable... You can also make a ISO of the CD and burn it to a Flash Drive... You can probably find bootable ISOs already created online...

If you have files that you want to save, you can boot with the flash drive and go to the command prompt and type in notepad.exe...

Copy\Paste From Bootable Command Prompt...

This basically works the same as any Copy\Past Function...

The screens that you work from just look different...

The drives letters will be different than from within Windows,

but their names will be the same..

Boot computer from installation media...

Select "Repair" on the lower left of the "INSTALL" screen...

Select Troubleshoot.... Command Prompt

Enter NotePad into Command Prompt and hit Enter...

Click on "FILE" Tab and select "OPEN"

Click on ThisPC or use the Dropdown menu to browse to the files you want to copy...

Right click on desired files and select "Copy" as normal...

Browse to the location you wish to save the files and select "Paste", again as normal...

Ignore anything on the bottom of the window concerning "SAVE", "CANCEL", "File Type", and ETC...

EDIT... If you do this, DELETE Everything on the SSD, then click on "NEW" and let Windows Format it as it wishes... You will probably end up with two partitions... A System Reserved (recovery) and the OS partition...

EDIT #2... Do not use one of the flash drives that may have incorrect boot files on it... Either create a new one with BIOS\MBR, and NTFS, or use the DVD...

No, same problem as the DVD.

I did the 3 bootrec commands from the USB drive, still the same problem.

Seems like I won't be in Windows again?..

You should eject the DVD before rebooting, but that maybe doesn't matter anymore...

It still might boot to Windows with a Flash Drive plugged in..

Bootrec failed again.

I did the Rebuild MBR.

I runned fixboot (same error) and rebuildbcd (success). The button Go to Windows 10 Home appears, but doesn't work (reboot to ssd #1: "OS not found", reboot to DVD selected in boot priority gives the DVD installation choices again).

When I did this from the USB drives, I booted to the drive and I saw Windows..

Hi,

Try the BootRec commands one more time booting with the DVD and see what happens first... That would be the best solution...

If you still are getting all of the errors, then yes, try the Rebuild MBR in Partition Wizard...
