State of Decay 2 crashes on startup

Your not even supposed to be on this thread. At least you can play the game, we can't even get past the damn splashscreen without crashing. Go somewhere else for your error.

Same issue here and I'm so p1ssed...

A fricking 20Gb update and they still completely sh@g the game for some proportion of customers.  

To be honest I see what Microsoft is trying to do. This whole SoD2 project has seemingly been commandeered by the marketing types in an attempt to springboard the MS Store as a competitive option with the likes of Steam. As usual however, the dream couldn't make it to a technical reality. 

The cost is extremely high for MS. Their efforts in this space have always been treated as a joke and all they've done is confirm what everyone's already been saying for years - Microsoft don't care about the community and they can't deliver. 

I feel for Undead Labs. I'm a big supporter of their franchise (300+ hours SODYOE) and they must be p1ssed since Microsoft bought them out, as they will have even less control over things like this. 

All they needed to do was embrace the Steam platform in this release and they would have actually sold 1m+ copies instead of gerrymandering the numbers using Gamepass subscribers. Like many, I almost didn't purchase the game because it was a Store/Xbox only release. 

Look at E3 - Sony pretty much pulverised MS with their presentation. 

I'm not sure Microsoft will ever learn.

Any way - I will just sit here and moan, but every day draws closer to a "delete and forget" scenario for SoD2... and I'm definitely not alone in this.

My friends wants to play the game with me but it keeps crashing on his computer for some reason. My game works perfectly fine. We both got it from the Microsoft store, but whenever he launches the game, it crashes on the logo screen. I went on the game forum but found no solution.

Hi i finally resolve this problem, looks like is a problem with the localization system of the game in the recent patch, try this:

Go to languaje preferences, and change it to English united states, ant the region to the same, if you alread have it, just download and put another english *english from australia for xample, and the region too... download the spanish spain or mexico pack too, restart de pc an try to open you game with the new languaje, if it works just take back yor original languaje settings and ready.

This worked for me. Downloaded the English US language pack and installed it and then SOD2 ran just fine.
