Error Code: 0x80073CF9, Couldn't Install Forza Horizon 3 on PC

I just bought Forza Horizon 3 for PC and am unable to download it. Everytime I try to download it, it gives me an error "Couldn't Install, we will try again shortly".

I'm installing it on a external hard drive with 800Gigs free, tried using wsreset, run as administrator to clear Windows Store Cache, to no avail. I tried installing it on another drive, but the same error pops up.

I've also followed Microsoft's solution to run the trouble shooting app "Appsdiagnostic10", it found a problem, "Windows Store Cache may be damaged", and it was fixed by the troubleshooter, but even after that, trying to download Forza Horizon 3 DOES NOT WORK.

Would appreciate any help/answers.

    Hi,

For the first method it's ok, temporary folder is the good one.

For the second method, I already did that a couple of time.. Do you really read our answers?

There are many people with this problem. And we need a serious help from you, no prefabricated answers..

ALL WORK FINE on Windows Store, except Forza Horizon 3 only who don't want download. I think sincerely that the problem can it finds from your part, and not on our computers.

    And what about commercial act?

I allows me to remind to all your team that we gaunt to PAY has product which is us not delivered. You have "obligations of result", it is the law where I am..

Thank you for following up with the results. Here are 2 more methods on how to resolve error 0x80073CF9.

Method 1: Verified that your Temporary Local Internet is in the correct folder:

"c:\Users(the user you are loggin in as)\AppData\Local\Microsoft\Windows".

Method 2: Here are steps on how to recreate the AUInstallAgent folder as the folder responsible for app installation.

    a. Press Windows key + R to open the Run Dialog.

    b. Type %windir% and press Enter. You should now be in the Windows folder.

    c. Look for a folder called AUInstallAgent. If it is missing in the Windows folder, then right click on an empty space and click on New folder.

    d. Rename the folder as AUInstallAgent.

    e. Restart the Computer and check if you are able to install apps.

Keep us posted the outcome to guide you with further troubleshooting steps.

Thank you for updating us with the result. To solve this issue, you could try a couple of things. Do remember to create a system restore point first before making any changes to your system:

    1. Run System File Checker (SFC)
    2. Try to delete ‘OLE’ folder in Registry Editor. First back up your Registry. Then open regedit and navigate to HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft. Here delete the OLE folder.
    3. Try running the following commands one after the other, before you try to update the app:

    net stop wuauserv

    rename c:\windows\SoftwareDistribution softwaredistribution.old

    net start wuauserv

    1. Shut down Security software and Firewall and try again
    2. Do a Clean Uninstall of the app and reinstall it afresh

6.If a folder by the name of AUInstallAgent is missing on your C:\Windows folder, recreate it and then try again and see if it helps. The only condition to do this is to be signed in as administrator of your Windows.

    1. Make sure the folder “AppReadiness” exists inside C:\Windows, if it doesn’t exists, create it manually and leave it empty.

Keep us posted the outcome to guide you with further troubleshooting steps.

    Hi, thanks for the follow.

I made all that you advised. Here are details:

_1: SFC scan ok, no errors.

    _2: no"OLE" folder found on "HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft"

_3: "rename" commande "not found". So, I renamed the folder manually.

    _4: no change

    _5: uninstall Store > reboot > WSReset > reinstall > reboot

_6: "AUInstallAgent" folder is missing on C:\Windows. > Created

_7: "AppReadiness" folder is missing on C:\Windows. > Created.

Reboot again.... And always same result : Everything works well on the Windows Store except Forza Horizon 3 dowload, with alway the same error code  "0x80073CF9"....

Edit: I have also disabled firewall/Security software during all the process.
