How to clear Quick Access' history:
Open Start/Cortana, type: file explorer options
Hit Enter
Select the General tab
In the Privacy Pane, click the Clear button to Clear File Explorer history
It worked for me!
Ditto! THIS EXACT INSTRUCTION SOLVED THE ISSUE FOR ME. Woo hooo!
Thanks for posting the easiest remedy of all. I am glad I did not have to do the other instructions since they do not appear necessary for me.
However, just to be on the safe side, I then followed a portion of Neuraldevil’s instruction number 4 (in the comment just before yours) which appears to prevent FE from even working with Quick Access:
A. In File Explorer, hit the "VIEW" tab;
B. Clicked on the "OPTIONS" icon over on the far right,
(If you hit the down arrow, then you have to select "Change folder and search options");
C. In the GENERAL TAB, go to the drop-down arrow next to "OPEN FILE EXPLORER TO" and change the selection from "Quick access" to "THIS PC".
If Quick Access itself, and not just a part of it, is the primary problem, then this should also help prevent it from occurring again in the future.
Just GP INFO for anyone: I doubt it matters, but I just bought my "HP Pavilion Gaming Desktop 690-0067c" in August of last year (2018) and I have not put a lot of programs on it yet so I shouldn't be having a significant problem like this so soon. On the
other hand, its only 1TB and I have had my free space down as low as 11GB before, mostly due to consolidating and organizing photos and videos.
