Windows 10 missing first keystrokes from Microsoft Designer Bluetooth Keyboard after Fall Creators' Update

After updating to the Fall Creators' Update, Windows misses the first several keystrokes from my Microsoft Designer Bluetooth Keyboard. This occurs when after rebooting, first logging in or simply after the keyboard has been idle for a bit.  The problem happens not only in Windows, but in all applications, too.

I have replaced the keyboard batteries and the problem persists.

I have tried another identical keyboard and the problem persists with that keyboard, too.

I have checked for driver updates, but Device Manager indicates that I have the latest drivers.

The problem did not happen before updating to the Fall Creators' Update.

    I have always been plugged directly into the back of my HP without any hub or docking station and it happens.

    I saw on different forums that it happens only on USB dongles connected thru third-party hardware like a USB hub or docking station.

    Now I am testing it while connected dongle directly to the laptop USB.

    Will take a couple of days to make sure that it does not happen anymore.

    I wish Microsoft would own up to this one and take some efforts to fix this WITHOUT paying for support.  I paid for the keyboard (ergo the drivers) and deserve a working product.  This isn't like a broken hardware issue.

    Happens with the Sculpt Keyboard also.  Thought I had a defective one.  Have had 2 Sculpt Keyboards now and both exhibit this same issue. 

    Other, non-Microsoft keyboards do not exhibit this behavior.

    Super frustrating but I don't think they are going to fix it.

    So frustrating!  I just tried to call MS support and they wanted me to pay for this.  I refuse on principal and now can't get anywhere.

    I'm half tempted to ditch this POS and get a wired keyboard.

    @Geroge 2154 kind of interesting how this is only in Edge for you, but for many others are having the problem outside our browser.  I even have the problem logging into Windows myself.
