Hello,

I want to reinstall my windows 10 64 bit into a new SSD I bought.

I am trying to create a USB flash drive using windows media creation tool but I am getting this error every time. I have tried it on 4 laptops and 1 desktop, and with 3 different pendrives.

Hi Divyank,

The error code 0x80072F76-0x20017 means that the tool doesn't have permission for it to run. For us to assist you, we suggest that you follow the simple steps listed below:

I fixed it by setting my dns to Google's OpenDNS (8.8.8.8 & 8.8.4.4) and by flushing my DNS cache in cmd (ipconfig /flushdns). Clearly there is some kind of issue resolving the IP address for Microsoft's upgrade servers.

I had this problem, then I followed somebody's advice to change user agent (Firefox extension) and it worked! Give a try.

It seems that this problem is caused by two folders left on the Disk

    C:$Windows.~WS

    C:$WINDOWS.~BT

Removing them made the tool work here.

I tried this method like 10 times yesterday but I was getting same error. Today after your reply I tried it once again and it worked. :)
