Volume bar won't go away/volume stuck at 100

For the past 6 days the volume bar has not gone away. I try to turn down the volume, but it gradually goes back to 100. The bar gets in the way, and the volume is way too loud. I've seen other people have had this same problem, but I haven't found a solution. I've restarted my computer, I've downloaded an updated audio driver, I've held down the audio buttons on my keyboard, but nothing helps.

I have a Windows 10, Inspiron 15-7579, 64 bit.

I just searched the interned for hours only to discover that it's not a software issue, but that there is a volume button on the side of the computer next to the power that I never noticed and it was STUCK. That was definitely my problem. It's still kind of stuck for me, but at least the volume icon went away. Hope this helps.

    Hello!

    I have spent the last 3 weeks trying to fix this problem (reboots, reinstall, delete and reinstall - you name the fix, I have gone through it on my computer).  It all boiled down to the volume control just as you stated.  Now, how do I get the volume button unstuck?  

    Thanks for your solution.  I am laughing at all the fixes either listed below or on other websites because it is a simple, simple fix.

    POSSIBLE SOLUTION: I have this problem at least once a week, using a wireless Logitech KB780 keyboard and using the volume buttons. This is not a volume button on the hardware for me that is stuck. I am sure it is a software issue. 

    Please try this:

    - plug in a second keyboard (I used a default Dell kb on the front usb port of my desktop) 

    • use the keys on the second keyboard to adjust the volume

    With this, the volume overlay on the screen disappeared, the sound returned to normal, and the Logitech KB780 worked normal again too.

    Give it a try.

    Do you mean the problem was in the keyboard attached to the laptop or the Logitech wireless keyboard?

    Yes, it was!!

    Wi-fi keyboard key was stuck. Not the laptop keyboard, as I hardly use that. It was defective from the time I received the computer!!!
