For the past 6 days the volume bar has not gone away. I try to turn down the volume, but it gradually goes back to 100. The bar gets in the way, and the volume is way too loud. I've seen other people have had this same problem, but I haven't found a solution. I've restarted my computer, I've downloaded an updated audio driver, I've held down the audio buttons on my keyboard, but nothing helps.
I have a Windows 10, Inspiron 15-7579, 64 bit.

I just searched the interned for hours only to discover that it's not a software issue, but that there is a volume button on the side of the computer next to the power that I never noticed and it was STUCK. That was definitely my problem. It's still kind of stuck for me, but at least the volume icon went away. Hope this helps.

Solution For Me!
I tried everything listed here and on other Websites and the bar kept returning.
Here's what I learned. When I turned off the power on my wireless Logitech keyboard the volume bar went away. I did that for a few days and then decided to change the batteries in my Logitech keyboard. The volume Bar went away and has not returned.

EDITED THREE DAYS LATER
The problem came back. It is connected to the volume control on my Logitech cordless keyboard. When I use the volume control on my keyboard it works to lower the volume and it stays where I put it. However, with every keystroke after that the volume goes back up by two each time.

I have had this issue, on and off. Usually, I'd have to reboot the computer entirely. However, for myself anyway, I found a much easier fix! If/When the volume becomes stuck, if you have a wireless keyboard, as I do (Logitech K800, for me!), simply turn the power off and wait a few seconds. The volume bar on screen will disappear.
Then turn it back on, and the volume should stay at the level you put it at. I think it has something to do with some flaw using the keyboard volume buttons. When doing it manually via the little sound horn in the lower right-hand corner or via my wireless headphones, I never have the problem. Only when using the keyboard controls.

This is the solution, don't waste time updating drivers, clean booting, or fresh OS installs. After 2 months of frustration a coworker knew exactly what was causing this. The power volume button board is bad and needs to be replaced or the ribbon cable has slipped out, in my case the board itself was bad. I ordered one on eBay for around seven bucks, it also came with the ribbon cable. It is basically thin long copper strip about 1 and a inch long that is housed the volume buttons themselves right above the keyboard and is held in place by one tiny screw.
I have been having with problem for a little over a month. Along with it comes other issues such as poor performance, can't switch between applications, freezing and more. I have been researching solutions, clearing out programs, cleaning up my hard drive, tried the clean boot, all to no avail. I finally did a full reset, which wiped out all files and programs, reinstalled Windows and the volume bar is still stuck at 100 and displayed in the upper left corner. I am stumped. Does anyone know how to fix this?
