This update has failed 21 times+. I have run trouble shooter and it is green.

Everything looks good until after the reboot. Stuck in a bad loop.

Event log:

Installation Failure: Windows failed to install the following update with error 0x80070BC2: 2018-01 Cumulative Update for Windows 10 Version 1709 for x64-based Systems (KB4056892).

Any help would be appreciated.

PLEASE FIX THIS.  This update has failed over 20 times.

Surely at least one Microsoft employee is smart enough to fix this problem.  A simple call to any of the people suffering from the problem would allow this one employee to see what's wrong.

EXTREMELY UNHAPPY.

Hi

open CMD as administrator, an type one by one:

SC config wuauserv start= auto [Press Enter]

SC config bits start= auto [Press Enter]

SC config cryptsvc start= auto [Press Enter]

SC config trustedinstaller start= auto [Press Enter]

reboot system

Hope this helps!

Microsoft updates are a joke that cause no end of issues.

Time someone brought out a real OS that actually works.

Everyone get together and look for an OS that actually works, Linux might be a bit off the radar but it works all the time without Microsoft stuffing it

    Hi,

The link that we've provided in our previous reply contains all the steps you need to follow to resolve the issue. The step that resolved the issue of ChuckHoffman1 is the in-place upgrade process. There may be an issue with the system files itself that is why he cannot install the KB4056892 update. To replace those files, he performed an in-place upgrade. This will re-install Windows 10 but it will not affect your files and folders. If you've already followed all the previous steps in the link, we recommend that you perform an in-place upgrade to resolve the issue.

We'll be waiting for the result.

But it will blow out all installed applications, which is a huge time-suck and pain in the behind. There should be a better way. My desktop has been rebooting every evening for a month.

Micrsoft problem needs to be fixed, my computer was fine until this came along!

ok, thanks for this advice I am going to try it now but to be honest I am now slightly confused, by performing the in-place upgrade, this means that the problem is with my laptop (new) rather than with the windows update? Afterward my laptop will obviously reload this particular update without any problem, is that right?

Manual install says it is already installed.

Windows Update is downloading it again and asking for reboot which fails and it starts all over again.

That KB does not appear in the uninstall list.

Note I tried uninstalling KB4054717 and reapplying. Update history now has it saying reboot required and the system has rebooted 3 times since trying to reapply KB4056892.

I have the same issue, a microsoft tec  remotely performed a manual update and discovered that the update was already installed. He told me to re-boot and nothing has changed the loop continues, he disappeared without saying goodbye!

I think the issue is one of the Adobe flash patches hanging, and the updates coming in behind it get jammed too. Anyone else seeing these Adobe Flash patches hung as well?
