The window says: Give this code to the support. Where is that support?

I can also concur that as odd as it seems to move the file to the USB, this did work with my 8gb flash drive after numerous failures with it on my hd.

Recently, I have seen many people inquiring about this error regarding the Media Creation Tool. I myself got this error when I try to create a bootable USB drive (aka Create an Installable Media).

Here's what I tried:

Reformatting USB drive to FAT32

Deleting files

Tried to locate and run Setupprep.exe (I couldn't find this file in C:\$Windows.~BT\Sources or anywhere)

Change Startup Type of Update-Related Services (Startup Type: Manual -> Automatic)

Uninstalled and Reinstall Windows 10 Media Creation Tool

Made sure my USB is above 8Gb as instructed by the tool (it is 15Gb)

The Fix (for me at least):

1. Downloadthe Windows 10 Media Creation Tool directlyinto the USB drive that you want to use as a bootable device (meaning you download the Tool into the same USB you chose to use as an Installation Media). If you already downloaded the tool on your PC's Desktop, copy it into your USB.

2. Run the Tool directly from your USB, meaning you open File Explorer, locate the MediaCreationTool.exe in your USB and double-click to run it.

The installer should then create an Installation Media/Bootable USB.

This also worked for me. Like others have said, not sure why. I have had trouble with building an installer with the media creation tool before. It works sometimes from the website and sometimes not. But this is a good work around.

I tried 3 times before I realized that I was not telling UAC that it is alright to make changes. I just did not see it flashing on the taskbar. I know this is something simple but sometimes it is the simplest things. I was to finally able to make the usb flash drive from media creation tool after finally seeing UAC flashing on the taskbar. Hopefully this is what the problem is and will help. Also check to see if controlled folder access is on in Defender and toggle it off if it is.

Moving it to the USB drive and running it as administrator still doesn't work in my case.  I've tried 4 different USB sticks on 3 different computers over 2 different internet connections.
