Windows 10 updates keep turning off system restore thus deleting previous restore points!

I mean...the restore option is the only option for the average end user. You can't charge money to fix a machine that just crashes again with every update

When a "feature" upgrade is performed such as the Anniversary Update (v1607), original Creators Update (v1703), or Fall Creators Update (v1709), the update will clear at least (1) Restore Points, (2) Event Log entries, (3) Windows Update History, and (4) Reliability History. Basically you are installing a new operating system, and using restore points from previous versions would mess things up. You do have the option of rolling back to the previous version for a period of time if you have issues with the new version.

But Why? Its just wrong wrong wrong. And with MSoft as it behaves now, we have NO settings options to do a damn thing about it!

But for working hard to constantly block these damn upgrades. When I see one coming, or see my banwidth going crazy, I go straight to performance moniter and KILL the W10upgrade processs, then delete any remnants of what it had downloaded!

As far as W10 goes, I was fairly OK with 1511. Im still running 1511 on one PC. But its hard work stopping these forced (So-called) upgrades!

So what is MSofts response to me doing this?.... STOP ALL PATCHES & SUPPORT! If you don't upgrade. For 1511, and now 1607. Damn cyber mafia!

Is there a way to ROLL BACK hung-up updates and then perform a clean update?

This is truly amazing to me.   Updates should not be this difficult.   I have FOUR WINDOWS PC's and the only one that updated perfectly was my newest, bought with Windows 10.

It appears to me, and tell me if I am wrong, that Windows 7 updated to Windows 10 is a problem for Microsoft?

Let me know if there is something that I am missing.  I am on my 60th hour of attempting this update, as I am keeping track of the number of hours I am spending on this ONE PC.   What I mean here is how many hours it has SAT doing nothing.

Here's the latest patch: KB4284822. Look for 2018-06 Cumulative Update for Windows 10 Version 1709 for x64-based Systems (KB4284822).

Hello, I found that update and as of this moment, Pac Time 7:45am, I have noticed that the "Windows Update Standalone Installer" has been in "Searching for Updates on this Computer" mode for nearly an hour.    It shows the usual Green Streaming Progress Indicator.

How long should I allow this to run before opening Task Manager and simply stopping this Installer?  It seems to be stalled.    Is it UNINSTALLING some previously broken installation files or folders?   How might we research if anything is actually happening here?   It is spinning away without progress it seems.

I have some work to do this morning, a Sunday.   I might have to simply stop this process and go back to it later in the day.   Is this a normal process?

I have landed on the CONTROL PANEL PAGE and CLICKED, "Uninstall an update" and it is hung up as well, so far.  MORE LATER if  progress is made at all!

I am sure that by now you might guess that I am wondering what has happened to Microsoft Programming, when NOT ONE UPDATE, since I converted to Windows 10, has gone well.  It is amazing to me that SOMEONE at Microsoft has not noticed this issue and then has done something to help us out here in REAL_VILLE.

It happened 2-3 times to me, thus I disabled Windows Update on Windows 10. I was lucky enough to purchase 4 licenses of Macrium Reflect for 4 pcs. Believe me, once you get a hold on that software you won't ever have to tremble when you pc gets weird by anything. Even if you lose your pc (stolen, broken), you can deploy the C: image to another pc easily.
