2018-03 Cumulative Update for Windows 10 Version 1709 for x64-based Systems (KB4088776) - Error 0x80070002

I have been struggling with this issue for well over a month, It first started with the "2018-02 Cumulative Update for Windows 10 Version 1709 for x64-based Systems (KB4090913)". Now its update Tuesday and this months cumulative update (KB4088776) is doing the exact same thing.

I have tried all 5 of the steps provided by microsofts here:                            (More than once)

Finally, I have done a clean install of windows 10 three times now in the past couple of weeks, to no prevail. 

After each fresh install. the exact same issue.

I am running Windows 10 Pro Education, Version 1709, build 16299.15.

After each install it seems to update no problem, but seems to only be an issue once I reactivate my Windows 10 Pro Activation key.

I gave up weeks ago, and was hoping my problem would simply be solved by the latest update, but that is not the case.

Any help and suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

    I tried doing that (at the advice of MS tech support), but it still failed... Here's the last line of the tech support chat: "Please be assured that this process will fix the updates issue in your computer."

    Update... Later the same day a notification box appears on the screen saying (paraphrasing) "We have some updates for your PC" I've not seen a message like that before pop-up on my desktop, it's like some weird new MS AI... but I hit Restart anyway and this time all was updated no problem... So, in the end, just waiting worked for me.

    I have had the same issue, update would download, attempt install, fail download and loop.

    solution was to manually download the 700+ mb update and install. reboot, open settings updates, and it will say it needs to reboot.

    so reboot again and everything was installed.

    edit. i guess anyone else should check if you have version 1709 installed by typing 'system information' in start, open up its the second from top.

    Thank You ... you would think the idiots at Microsoft would pay more attention to their customers and offer a quick, easy to find solution....  but NO, hence, Google and Apple and Linux are eating their breakfast, lunch and dinner ... fu Bill Gate and Dalmer ds and your parade of monkeys ... YOU ALL have wasted FAR TOO MUCH OF MY TIME trying to fix the **** you shovel...

    I am being asked to update every day and I am an 80 year old lady not computer savvy 

    it is driving me mad any help please before I go crazy.

    I wish I had never gone on to windows 10.

    Yep tried this, didn't work. I appreciate the help anyways. 

    I finally got my problem resolved earlier today by speaking with a Microsoft technician and having them remote in. He tried everything, but he eventually downloaded a windows 10 pro 1709 iso and installed it. 

    No everything is working fine. And I have all my updates.

    Something was going wrong with me reinstalling my OS to windows 10 home, than using my pro activation key to upgrade.

    I'm running Windows 10 Pro 64-bit version 1709 build 6299.251. This update has failed two times by Windows Update and I have manually downloaded it and ran it with the standalone installer only to fail again. It applies it, reboots, says it cannot apply the update and reboots again backing out. That's on windows10.0-kb4088776-x64 on an HP 6300 Pro PC.
