How to disable the Read Aloud feature?

We'd like to know more about Read Aloud pop-up or notification that you encounter on your device. To do this, we'd like to ask the following questions to effectively assist you with your concern:

• Which Windows build version is running on your device? Type winver in the search box and press Enter to help you identify the build.
• When does the notification or prompt pops up?
• Can you post a screenshot of the pop-up to better identify the issue.

Meanwhile, lets narrow down the issue by ensuring that the Narrator is disabled. To do this, follow the steps provided on this support article and check if the issue persists.

Read aloud is a great concept from Microsoft with INCOMPLETE implementation.  It needs a way to have it PERMANENTLY disabled if the user sees no use for it.  The reason is that REGARDLESS which version of Windows 10 you have it pops up in a box any time you miss click your mouse.  [ right click (for right handed people) or opposite for left landed people with mouse reversed.]  I have 2 laptops and 2 desktops on W10.  Most are 16299.248.  problem has been here since I cant remember when on all of them. Yes Narrator is OFF.

Try it right now.  Push both halves of your mouse button - this simulates missing the desired half with your thumb for example.  Most times a box pops up often with the READ ALOUD item preselected or close to selected.  Make another false move with your hand or just have your thumb too close to your track pad or your finger too close to your regular mouse button and bingo bango make a wrong jiggle or static electricity pop and Mr Microsoft is reading your stuff and causing endless distress .  If I had poor eyesight with time to listen to the slow speaking dude this would be an awesome feature.

Seeing this happens numerous times in an hour on a bad day, it is easily one of the top 3 MOST annoying Windows 10 features.  The other one is also mouse/track pad related - its whatever makes the windows 10 desktop pop up with all the open windows- again some accidental mouse motion or undocumented Microsoft short cut I have yet to figure out. I will save the 3rd most annoying W10 feature for another time.

So again - how do we enter Microsoft Edge settings and turn off Read Aloud forever?

I concur get rid of the Read Aloud...

I experience Read Aloud popup when typing often more than once per minute. Minimizing palm touch setting and sensitivity setting did not reduce popups significantly. Since Read Aloud has a touchpad shortcut, I would like to disable that short cut except when I want to use it, which to date has been never. The nuisance is often worse than not using the touchpad or mouse and going keyboard only. Seems like a simple thing to fix, but it's a nuisance that drags Win 10 down!

I get a popup with read aloud as the first selection and then there's copy as a choice and some other selections as well; but, it happens when I place my mouse over an X to close something as well as other places that it pops up...just can't think remember but it is annoying and MS should offer a solution as it really is not needed since I can read for myself!!

Is there any update with this issue?  I get "Read Aloud" pop up several times per day.  This is a brand new computer with and I'm ready to throw it out the front door.  I am truly hoping for a solution!!!  Thank you.
