Amazon Device randomly showing up on Network.

Original question:

I've got a random Amazon KFAUWI device showing up on my network as a device beside my driver for my router. Can anyone help? I am sure it is not a device in my house, as everything is set to something we've done or one of our names. Can anyone tell me if i'm stupid or if this is a general happening?

    Just tell them to turn off WPS (Wi-Fi Protected Setup Config) in your router.

    Then get someone to disable (Windows Connect Now - Config Registrar) service on your PC?

    There are lots of ways this can happen.

    Do you have any Amazon devices like a fire tv with a remote?

    Is your router set up with WPS (Wi-Fi Protected Setup Config) setting on ?

    Is (Windows Connect Now - Config Registrar) service ensbled on your PC?

    If so your windows pc is probally seeing your firetv and its remote connecting to each other

    if you phantom device has no IP address it is not really on your network

    Thank you.  I just noticed this today - a "phone" (TNDT70) named "polaris_basic" and an Amazon device named "full_giza" (my FireTV it would seem) with MAC only.  A google search for a similarly named Amazon device brought me to this thread.  Disabling the service on my desktop resolved it. 

    Thank you - I guess I can go unblock those MAC addresses in my router now!  😁
