Amazon Device randomly showing up on Network.

Original question:

I've got a random Amazon KFAUWI device showing up on my network as a device beside my driver for my router. Can anyone help? I am sure it is not a device in my house, as everything is set to something we've done or one of our names. Can anyone tell me if i'm stupid or if this is a general happening?

    It should only show up if you have an active WiFi adapter, since this is WiFi device trying to locate a WiFi network with WPS.   Since you router is not allowing it to establish a connection it will not be seen on your Ethernet network.

    Without an enabled WiFi adapter windows will not even start the WPS config service.

    Just noticed this issue on my asus amd.

    Also noticed it only shows up with my wireless usb drive in.

    If I'm hardwired it doesnt show up..

    am I missing a basic step thinking it should show up regardless?

    I think I've figure this out.   We are also now seeing the "Austin" computer on our File Explorer Network section (Manufacturer: Amazon,  Model: KFAUWI)

    I traced it to a "Doro PhoneEasy 626" flip phone that we recently purchased.   I tested it by turning it on and off... and each time "Austin" would appear and disappear.

    The answer has been posted here several times, thanks guys. Turn off WPS in your router settings and you won't see any of these devices ever again, I can assure you.

    You'll continue to see them if you don't turn off WPS but they won't do you, or your system, any harm.

     I understand that these devices are not logged into my network.  The system is just showing the devices that are sending out packets as they search for available connections. Win 10 grabs these and shows them to us.  Microsoft probably did this for easy use of the wifi direct feature in win 10.  I think it is annoying.

    FYI, even with wps turned off these devises show in file explorer.  I'm still broadcasting due to a network device that often dumps the network and family members need an easy way to reconnect.  I'm sure they would stop displaying if I wasn't broadcasting my network.
