I had access to settings in WU (Windows Update) only after date change, no need to delete any files.

MS uses "Long Time Pattern" in the expired authcab file as upper-case T shows in code line:

    <ExpiryDate>2017-12-03T11:59:25.5067616-08:00</ExpiryDate>

normally for UTC time. My PC is now synced to "time.windows.com" again, as before, WU and MSU are fixed for now with a new authcab file issued December 1, 2017, expiring July 1, 2025 and after I re-installed Silverlight albeit I had updated to the last version earlier.

    Hello -

In an earlier post, unchecking "the third" update a download box was part of an answer offered to the W7 update issue.

    Regretably, I did that.

Does anyone know an unobtrusive /  simple way to get it back as the option has not come back when trying a restore to before 4 Dec.

    Thanks

If you are asking if it reverted to the present date automatically, the answer is no.  You have to reset the date to the present manually.

If you are asking, did it still work when the date was reset to the present, the answer is yes,  Once it performed an update using a computer date before the "expiration date", it continued to work when the date was reset to the real date.

    "But tried 02/12/2017 and success."

So did your system reset to today's date or are you still in the past?
