++ the future of Microsoft Lumia mobile phones ++

• I really think that (although) companies are not launching new entries in some products categories, they still can have prototypes ++ so they are on the "what might have been" path ++ HP's involvement has been a great asset for the future of Windows Phones (because Lumia as a team leader needs a performant Mannschaft of Windows Phones ++ it would have been great with other players like Sony, Lenovo or a revived Siemens) ++ Android devices are very affordable & they are proud of it ++ I think every OS should address all income categories or classes ++ finally all parts of the world are in a development process with various speeds & generally wealthy areas have surprisingly great problems : income inequality, quality & affordability of public services etc.

++ the future of Lumia is about its mobile market future (if there will be a relaunch in the 5G era ++ do not forget Mercedes has taken a great pause in F1 as well & they are now celebrating 125 years in motorsport) ; & it is about how we can use the existing fleet of 4G & 3G Lumia devices (we can protect the environment if we use efficiently the devices &  we can set usage records & provide telemetry for the future of Windows (10) Mobile) ++

All is not lost. That mistake is not as bad as end of support... A trong comeback is still possible..

Since the 1980's, I have work with Microsoft products, beginning with DOS.  Does anyone remember this one?  It was the foundation preceding Windows. I have installed servers, built and updated workstations, purchased additional licenses for Microsoft software, trained employees on how to use it, consulted and worked with programmers, engineers and communication professionals. 

For a long time, I fought having a smart phone;  just didn't think it was necessary and not a fan of the other two platforms - ever.  Finally accepting the inevitable 15 years ago, we discovered Windows phones. Okay, there were frustrating moments setting up, learning it, lack of applications - our kids ditched them for Androids - but we like them. They included everything we need - good GPS, phone, text and a few useful apps.  To date, I have migrated to the Windows 10 platform with my 950 and was certain the phones would do better in the marketplace.  Microsoft unified the Windows 10 platform and admitted they needed to move ahead with fresh and concurrent technology.  Hearing the abandonment of the phone is a disappointment, to say the least.

If it is truly abandoned by Microsoft and they choose not to sell, or reinvent it into another device, consumers will also be forced to abdicate. So long, ciao, adios ... we are just whining here and need to be thinking about our next platform and get on with it.  If they are listening, hopefully someone in the ivory towers will have some sense to re-craft this baby.

I recently filled out a questionnaire from Microsoft and complained to a VP about abandoning the phones.  The poll was from the Azure division, so not sure how it will be handled, or if forwarded to anyone. At this time, we need to make a little noise where it matters and remind them we are their customers and rely on their products.  We didn't give up, they did ...

• Windows 10 mobile = 0.09% (NETMARKETSHARE global %) : it is true that many devices with this OS have been originally shipped with Lumia Denim 8.1 & many are blocked on version 1607 //

• if the company states that these are updates, then they certainly are ( 📱 93tid perhaps speaks about feature upgrades) & remember "it is worth the wait & the devices will work even better" & "the turtle always wins  📱 " // 

++ perhaps this year the users have benefited also from feature upgrades, e.g. improved gestures & touch & on version 1709 the introduction of fluent design (regular monthly updates are usually under 100MB, but the April 2018 update has exceeded 500MB, so it is not the same thing)

++ sorry that some apps are discontinued (in my user experience e.g. F1 app, news apps like WSJ, but if you are + you can find usually replacements or like in football call in the substitutes + e.g. I have found 5 other news apps, there is the Sports app & the internet or F1 live ticker for n-tv etc. ). These discontinuations can be only indirectly attributed to the company. 

++ I admit, that I have not bought any items from ebay & only observe the trends & that few  📱 are left in stores & only Wiley Fox has had the courage to manufacture openly & proudly devices powered by this OS with a great potential // In case that a fan has the perseverance, the courage, the faith, can afford to risk & has the fighting spirit to follow up on a complaint, then online retailers offer the possibility to obtain 1709 devices at a fraction of their initial cost (if 📱 is in good shape, then the native apps & the camera is worth the effort) //
