Hi,  while most recent (14/02/18) auto updates were installing they failed and windows removed failed files. Problem error code 0x800f0992 appeared, not sure what to do as website does not explain how to cure problem with any clarity. Possibly to do with NET framework. Should I wait for possible patch/workaround.

your usual expertise would be appreciated.

regards Rob.

Hi Rob,

Error 0x800f0922 occurs when downloading the newest update of Windows 10. It also means that you have less than 500 MB in system reserved partition. You may follow the methods provided below and check if you'll be able to update your device.

Method 1. Check your Internet connection

You need to make sure that you have an internet connection and if possible, you are using wired connections

Method 2. Check .NET Framework

Make sure you have the latest version of NET Framework installed. You may enable it in Windows features. Here's how:

  1. Type Windows Features on the search bar and press Enter.
  2. Select Turn Windows Features on or off.
  3. Check any boxes related to DotNet Framework and save selection.
  4. Restart your PC.

Method 3. Turn off your Firewall

We know that this is strange doing, but even Firewall can prevent updates occasionally. Here's how you can turn it off:

  1. Type Firewall on the search bar and press Enter.
  2. Open Turn Windows Firewall on or off.
  3. Turn off Firewall for both private and public networks.
  4. Save your selection.
  5. After saving your selection, you may try updating your device.

Let us know if you find this helpful. We will be glad to assist you further.

    Hi,

I'm getting the same error code when I install 2019-06 cumulative update... but nothing in the 3 solutions are possible in my case beacause the error happen when I try to inject MSU with DISM in Windows 10 offline image (WIM) for MDT/SCCM.

    Solution #1

To have Recovery Partition with at least 512 MB free space... A non-installed Windows (WIM file) doesn't have any partition !

    Solution #2

Internet connection / Microsoft Update / Firewall issue... A non-installed Windows (WIM file) use DISM to inject update with a MSU file already downloaded from Microsoft Catalog.

    Solution #3

Ensure .NET Framework is installed... A non-installed Windows (WIM file)... is just not installed, then .NET Framework is also not installed at his moment !

    I inject and prepare WIM file since many years (for Windows 7, 2008 R2, 8.1, 2012 R2, 10, 2016, 2019) and I never got this problem before !

Does someone have a better solution ?

    Hi Devlin,

Is there a similar tool for server platforms? I'm having update problems with Server 2016.

    Thanks
