Windows Update Error 0x800f0922

I feel your pain; I went through this in previous Windows 7 and 8, and still it's crap in W10.  Now i  have Outlook 2016 prompting for my password periodically - another mystery.  Windows is a mess and my next computer will be Apple, sick of Microsoft.

Anyway,

What I did is this:  You can uninstall the update by going to WINDOWS UPDATES and then view update history; then uninstall the update.  I also went into SERVICE (type services in the search bar); fine Windows Updateand change Startup Type to Disable.

I still notice Windows periodically checks for Updates, but by disabling it, it will not download the update is what I understand.

So how does one VIEW and delete these files ??????

Clearly this error code could potentially relate to any number of diverse and unrelated issues.

Perhaps my particular form of this issue was rare.

But in response to your query, here are the first 2 steps to resolving my issue which related to files that needed to be deleted from the system reserve partition.

First begin to type "disk management" in the search box to access the "disk management" window.

Second you want to see from the disk management window if your system reserve partition is getting full. In the image below,  it is fine, so nothing needs to be done.  If it were getting full, there are a few other steps needed to remove the files. I have not gone to the trouble of sharing the subsequent steps  since it appears my issue was pretty rare, but if anyone else other than me needs this info, I can share that too later. It is already buried above in the myriad of posts in  this mess of a thread.

If you find an update from Intel (i.e., Driver package) do the following:

• Check whether or not it applies to your hardware configuration - it is most likely not applicable.
• Run it - even it is not applicable, just to update the  history - and reboot. 
• Continue with the rest of Microsoft's updates one by one.

Error 0x800f0922 occurs when downloading the newest update of Windows 10. It also means that you have less than 500 MB in system reserved partition. You may follow the methods provided below and check if you'll be able to update your device.

Method 1. Check your Internet connection

You need to make sure that you have an internet connection and if possible, you are using wired connections

Method 2. Check .NET Framework

Make sure you have the latest version of NET Framework installed. You may enable it in Windows features. Here's how:

1. Type Windows Features on the search bar and press Enter.
2. Select Turn Windows Features on or off.
3. Check any boxes related to DotNet Framework and save selection.
4. Restart your PC.

Method 3. Turn off your Firewall

We know that this is strange doing, but even Firewall can prevent updates occasionally. Here's how you can turn it off:

1. Type Firewall on the search bar and press Enter.
2. Open Turn Windows Firewall on or off.
3. Turn off Firewall for both private and public networks.
4. Save your selection.
5. After saving your selection, you may try updating your device.

        As suggested above, I have tried all the above options, but not able to update Windows.

       I opened the Windows Features and did not find Dotnet file, but I did find .NET Framework and >NET framework 4.7(Advanced) files and checked them. After completion of the process, I got a message:-

      "Windows could not complete the required changes. Windows requires a reboot to return to original position"

      I tried it twice and everytime, I got the above message though I also turned the Firewall(Public and Private Firewall).

     The problem remains unchanged though the update is being downloaded automatically and subsequently reversed.

    Now I have got the new message" Your device is missing important security and quality fixes."

Perhaps it is for the above update.

Having the same issues when I try to update Win 10 Home 64 Bit. Been fine for 2.5 years and now it is doing this "Unable to complete the updates undoing the recent updates. Very frustrating indeed .
