Windows 10 update broke my computer?

Hello. I'm quite unhappy with my entire experience. I have had to contact support multiple times because my computer "wasn't on the list" of computers able to run the latest updates. I find this incredibly ironic, as it has 8gb of ram, lots of disk space,  and a very nice processor (~2.6ghz). I have had my agents help me as much as they could, and that wasn't the bad part, they did great! For a day... Somehow, even after they went and did the whole thing about delaying updates for 8 months or so, The Windows 10 update installer app downloaded. It has hogged me for the past week, with me having to abort multiple updates, not wanting to lose my pc again. I am a student, and can not afford a new one, but just recently I gave up and let it update. It quit out halfway through, as usual, and went back to the same condition it was at. Nothing works.

This is not like last time, I had to get a Windows 10 system on a usb, and repair my boot loader last time. This time, Windows simply won't do anything. It's currently telling me the only option left is a hard reset.

I have physically tried everything besides a hard reset. I refuse. Why should I lose my personal belongings, when it's out of my control? This is not an issue with anything except Windows. What can be done about this? I am very disappointed in the fact this has ruined my computer, I really hope you can do something about this.

    Same problem.  I have an ASUS UX501V with i7 6th gen processor, 16Gb RAM, 512Gb SSD, 4K screen, worked great until I finally let Win 10 update again (I tried it several times, it would try/fail/try/fail/revert back to the previous build).  This time it rebooted and crashed.  After numerous restarts, I got to the sign-on screen, but after sign-on, the PC doesn't recognize the desktop, nor the network, and gives a series of unknown / hard errors which I can't get past.  I have a weekly backup on an external drive, but no way to access it.  I purchased a Win 10 repair flash drive, to no avail either.  I scanned the ASUS website, also no help on accessing the recovery drive area.  I know have a $1.6k doorstop and a bad taste in my mouth for the 'feature upgrade' that I didn't need, can't stop, and still don't have.  I'll try some of the things listed here, at least the ones I haven't already found/tried.  I am considering buying a Win 10 DVD to reinstall and then restore my backup, but I'm steamed that I end up paying over a hundred bucks to get rid of something I didn't want to begin with, especially here at Christmas.  Anyone have a specific experience with this ASUS of the unknown hard error?  Thanks in advance if you do, or read this.

    To disable Windows 10 Automatic Updates:

    1. Go to Control Panel - Administrative Tools - Services
    2. Scroll down to Windows Update in the resulting list
    3. Double click the Windows Update Entry
    4. In the resulting dialog, if the service is started, click 'Stop'
    5. Set Startup Type to Disabled

    I've just spent 10 hours with Microsoft Escalation level 3 support trying to get app store working. They promised the latest update 1809 would fix everything. After 2 full installs, they finally got windows running - of course the app store still wasn't working.

    Now, after the latest 1809 October install, my machine is trashed. Windows wont detect my second monitor and the resolution is all messed up and wont run on anything above 800 x 600.

    This last update is by far the most destructive of a number of destructive releases. Tech support have no idea how to fix things and are now blaming drivers as a coverall for all the sins of windows 10.

    I would highly advise anyone thinking of trying to get this update running, to avoid it.

    Well this isn't going to help me, my PC is totally dead, won't power up now. These notifications for this thread on my cell phone are getting annoying. Microsoft just needs to fix their damn junk, bottom line.
